The EHR Capability Manager is a leadership position assigned to a specific Electronic Health Record (EHR) service area, reporting directly to the Capability Sub-Domain Leader. In this role, you will be responsible for dedicated EHR service delivery and operational management for your assigned service area. You will serve as the primary liaison across the capability service area with operational leaders, leaders of the Optum EHR Clinical Applications Capability Team, client representatives from in-scope vendor partners, and supporting cross-functional pillars.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities: - Partner with and align to overall IT delivery leadership for the client to provide dedicated service delivery in your assigned service area
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for operational and technical issues, driving towards prompt resolution
- Support, develop, and coach direct reports to foster career growth and team performance
- Ensure capability services staff work-including incidents, service requests, maintenance, enhancements, and project work-is managed appropriately and delivered within contractual SLAs
- Drive collaboration, communication, and end-user satisfaction across EHR application suites
- Manage and build solid working relationships with end-user communities, client stakeholders, and business leadership
- Collaborate with project resources to review, establish, and implement industry best practices
- Collaborate with client leadership on service demand, technical planning, and application roadmaps
- Act as a liaison providing relevant operational context to the Optum EHR capability team
- Lead the scoping, initial sizing, and technical planning for assigned projects
- Review, analyze, and evaluate staffing needs, collaborating with capability leaders to ensure proper resource allocation to meet contractual deliverables
- Address resource performance and operational concerns directly with capability leadership
- Support internal operational initiatives, including candidate interviews, solution design, and best practice sharing across teams
- Identify operational efficiencies and application rationalization opportunities to drive client success
- Deliver regular operational and executive status reports as required

Required Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience leading and executing complex IT managed services delivery
- 2+ years of technology leadership experience
- 2+ years of direct people management or team leadership experience
- 2+ years of experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) application delivery and integration with downstream systems
- 2+ years of experience supporting healthcare providers or healthcare organizations
- Demonstrated end-to-end experience delivering software applications and technology platforms
- Proven track record of implementing and supporting scalable technology solutions for enterprise clients
- Demonstrated experience collaborating across internal IT and external operational cross-functional groups
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field (or equivalent healthcare IT experience)
- 3+ years of experience influencing, problem-solving, and negotiating across multi-functional stakeholder groups
- Experience driving application rationalization and continuous service optimization in a healthcare technology environment

The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
