Salary Grade 15

The base salary will be $70,560 - $100,680 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Business Development will play a critical role in developing and executing a strategic, revenue-focused engagement plan that attracts, grows, and monetizes diverse audiences through compelling and memorable experiences. The Manager, Business Development is responsible for cultivating and leveraging relationships across the University community and external partners to generate sustainable revenue streams, including corporate sponsorships, partnerships, and game-day initiatives. By aligning stakeholder engagement with commercial opportunities, the position will enhance brand value, deepen loyalty, and ensure the continued growth and success of the Mustang program while honoring its traditions.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing or related field

Experience:
  • 5 years of related experience in sport management, marketing, fan engagement and/or sales experience with corporate sales of sports property
  • Demonstrated staff management experience
  • Experience leading a sports marketing/management portfolio in a student affairs environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • General knowledge of University Sports in Canada as well as University student affairs in Canada
  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing creative and engaging marketing and engagement programs to students and the community
  • Ability to effectively to build and maintain lasting, collegial relationships within the department, as well as with other departments, key business partners and external areas
  • Business acumen with an advanced understanding of quality standards relative to operational improvement, strategic planning and business growth
  • Sound judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
  • Proven ability to develop effective pitch decks, marketing/sales reports, and sponsor recaps
  • Ability to process and synthesize information with high levels of accuracy
  • Sound ability managing and mentoring staff and maintaining a positive work environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including effectively managing multiple competing priorities and activities both for self and others and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
  • Professional knowledge of successful sports sponsorship marketing, ticket sales, and the creative marketing processes
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM platform(s)
  • Ability to develop a strong team coupled with an ability to work effectively as a member of the management team
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and confidence interacting with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Positive, outgoing attitude and an unwavering commitment to customer service and teamwork
