Full Job Description
Directs the daily operation, maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems within site buildings for the Building Maintenance Department. Systems include HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, and building automation controls. Provides technical leadership and exercises line management responsibilities for technical programs, department operations and personnel/administrative activities. Responsible for safe, reliable and uninterrupted building services. Fiscally responsible for managing the department budget and controlling expenses.

Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of engineering principles as they apply to the design and operation of building services.
  • Ability to provide technical direction and prioritize services for direct reports, while offering technical expertise to programmatic customers to ensure work is performed safely and within established cost and schedule requirements.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, controls, metering, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and predictive and preventive maintenance systems.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data and presenting information to senior management.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve employee and service-related issues in accordance with Laboratory policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Demonstrated skill in conflict management, interpersonal relations, training, and promoting team effectiveness.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and implement management directives and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from senior leadership to front-line union employees.
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures governing finance, personnel, procurement, ES&H, collective bargaining agreements, and labor relations.

The expected hiring range for this position is $135,458.00 - $211,313.70.
