You constantly prove to take initiative, own a broad set of responsibilities, and be a business partner to various stakeholders. You are a quick learner and consider the bigger picture in managing various deliverables and initiatives, and you thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment. You are able to work independently on multiple projects with tight deadlines and pivot to new priorities.

What will you do in this role?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role:

  • Lead process improvement and data clean-up initiatives across corporate accounting, including standardizing chart of accounts, reconciliation templates, and reporting workpapers to support scalability and audit readiness;

  • Contribute to the monthly and quarterly financial close process for internal and external reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement and standardizing close activities;
  • Contribute to and help manage the quarterly and annual financial reporting and compliance reporting deliverables, ensuring accuracy and integrity of external disclosures;
  • Contribute to the corporate accounting process, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany allocations and reconciliations, G&A analysis, debt and interest analysis, and balance sheet analysis;
  • Coach and mentor junior resources within the team, including building their comfort with new tools and process changes;
  • Assist the Corporate Accounting and Reporting teams with technical accounting research and documentation, financial analyses for monthly and quarterly management reporting, and liaison with external auditors during the quarterly review and annual audit processes.

What experience and skills are required?

These are some of the things we would like you to bring to the table:

  • CPA, CA with minimum 3+ years post-qualification experience, preferably with experience in public company reporting;
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement or data clean-up initiatives, ideally within a finance/accounting function of a public company;
  • Familiarity with, or strong interest in, applying AI and automation tools (e.g., Excel/Power Query automation, RPA, generative AI tools) to finance and accounting processes; comfort evaluating and championing new tools with the team;
  • Experience in leading/managing a small team of finance professionals;
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, preferably in a real estate environment;
  • Experience with consolidations, complex accounting issues, acquisitions and dispositions, and joint arrangement structures;
  • Experience with financial accounting systems - JD Edwards experience considered a strong asset but not a requirement;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of complex formulas;
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret numbers into a business context;
  • Strong analytical skills; experience working on complex transactions, including M&A and joint arrangement structures;
  • A strong communicator who can digest complex information and simplify concepts when presenting to a variety of audiences;
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while maintaining strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and interact collaboratively with various functions; and
  • Self-motivated, accountable, energetic and hands-on professional with strong organization skills, with a genuine curiosity for improving how things are done.

This is a regular, full-time position with a base salary range of $110,000-$130,000. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible for a performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes paid vacation and personal days, flexible benefits, mental health resources, access to perks and discounts, professional development support, and team-building and social events.

Compensation is determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, total years of experience, industry experience, education, and professional designations. We recognize that exceptional talent doesn't always fit neatly into a bracket. Final compensation will be tailored to your specific experience, skills and the unique value you bring to the table. If your qualifications exceed the scope of this role, we may be open to adjusting the mandate - and the salary - to reflect that expertise.

We look forward to hearing from you, but please note; due to the high volume of applications, only candidates who qualify will be contacted. This position is for an existing vacancy.
