Manager, Accounting & Projects

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager, Accounting & Projects will be accountable for complex accounting issues and reporting, assisting with oversight of the general ledger, financial close, and delivery of consolidated financial statements under IFRS. The role plays a central part in delivering high-quality monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, ensuring that results are timely, accurate, and supported by strong internal control discipline.

A critical component of the mandate is close partnership with the finance teams at Wesdome's operating mine sites. The Manager, Accounting & Projects will ensure consistency and alignment between site-level reporting and corporate standards, fostering strong communication and standardized processes across locations. This individual will bring a balance of governance and collaboration, helping operational teams translate production and cost data into optimized and reliable financial outcomes.

The role will also be a key contributor with external auditors, working alongside the Finance Manager on quarterly reviews, the annual audit, and technical accounting and disclosure matters. The Manager, Accounting & Projects will ensure readiness for audit, support evolving reporting requirements associated with a public issuer, and contribute to maintaining a strong external reporting reputation around complex accounting policies and initiatives.

The mandate has a heavy focus on continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and systems. The Manager, Accounting & Projects is expected to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and optimize the use of financial systems such as SAP. The role will also support special projects, corporate initiatives and quarterly Board performance presentations, providing financial analysis, insight and execution leadership where required

Position Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Job Duties

Systems
  • Help drive the evolution of the corporate finance function of SAP
  • Support various company-wide SAP enhancements including, Finance, HR, Plant Maintenance and Supply Chain Management.
  • Identify, recommend and help implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Support phase II of the Company's Workiva implementation

Complex Accounting and Reporting
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, deliver on monthly and quarterly requirements for areas such as;
    • Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO)
    • Impairment modelling, testing and analysis
    • Various LTIP programs such as options, RSU's etc
  • Stay informed of business activities and related regulatory environments to manage and comply with all reporting requirements and disclosures.
  • Collaborate with team for evolving ESG initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Accounting & Regulatory Projects
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and regulatory initiatives across the Company, including IFRS 18
  • Developing and enhancing the organization's accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Finance
  • Document and coach team members with best practices within their functional area
  • Conducting special studies and recommends accounting methods and procedures
  • Lead complex accounting analysis and application where appropriate
  • Working closely with internal audit, manage the finance responsibilities of ICFR requirements and implement recommendations and improvements to strengthen our corporate governance.
  • Support as required the various tax savings related projects and audits, working in conjunction with external advisors as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned
