Full Job Description
Manager, Accounting

Location: Canada (Remote)

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Accounting is the operational core of Procurify's corporate accounting function. You own the month-end close, GL review, internal reporting package, and direct management of the corporate accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role in a lean team where execution quality and cross-functional credibility matter equally.

What you'll be working on

Accounts Receivable Operations
  • Own end-to-end AR operations - with a focus on DSO reduction and cash flow predictability
  • Manage the invoicing cycle for accuracy and timeliness; oversee the collections process with a structured, relationship-preserving approach
  • Drive operational discipline around AR aging, escalation thresholds, and write-off processes; maintain a clean and current AR ledger
  • Identify process gaps that create revenue leakage, delayed cash, or customer friction - and own the solutions
  • Own AR-related internal controls, credit policy compliance, and procedure documentation

Accounts Payable Operations
  • Own end-to-end AP operations - with a focus on payment accuracy, vendor trust, and working capital discipline
  • Manage the vendor payment cycle for accuracy and timeliness
  • Drive operational discipline around AP aging, payment terms optimization, and exception management; maintain a clean and current AP ledger
  • Identify process gaps that create payment delays, duplicate spend, or vendor friction - and own the solutions
  • Own AP-related internal controls, procurement policy compliance, and procedure documentation

Procurify Platform - Expert User & Product Partner

We don't just sell Procurify - we run our own AP operations on it. This role is central to that commitment.
  • Run all internal AP workflows end-to-end through Procurify and become the definitive internal expert on how the platform performs in a real finance operation
  • Document gaps, workarounds, and friction points encountered in daily use; translate those into structured, actionable feedback the product team can actually use
  • Participate actively in product discovery sessions - bring the practitioner's perspective to roadmap planning and feature prioritization; your day-to-day experience is a direct input into what gets built
  • Maintain a recurring feedback cadence with the product team - proactive input on workflow design and usability, not just reactive bug reports
  • Test new feature releases and beta initiatives ahead of broader rollout; validate that changes improve the operational experience and flag regressions before they reach customers

AI Thought Leadership
  • Stay ahead of how AI is transforming AP and AR
  • Proactively evaluate and pilot AI use within the accounting function; build a roadmap for where automation can reduce manual effort without sacrificing control
  • Act as an internal champion for AI adoption - educate the team, document outcomes, and scale what works

Month-End Close
  • Own the full month-end close - manage the close calendar, task sequencing, and cross-team coordination to hit deadlines every cycle
  • Own the AP and AR close sub-processes end-to-end - cutoff, accruals, reconciliations, and final sign-off
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and aging schedules; own GL completeness before handoff to the Director of Finance
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for close execution issues
  • Continuously improve close efficiency - reduce days-to-close through better sequencing, tooling, and upstream preparation

Team Leadership & Development
  • Directly manage the corporate accounting team; set goals, conduct reviews, and invest in professional development
  • Foster a team culture grounded in operational excellence, accountability, and a bias toward improvement
  • Serve as the escalation point for AP, AR, and close execution issues

Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Own the design, monitoring, and documentation of controls across AP, AR, and the broader accounting function
  • Ensure GAAP/ASPE compliance across all accounting operations in coordination with the Director of Finance

Financial Reporting
  • Support the Director of Finance with underlying schedules and commentary for internal reporting and audit preparation

KPIs
  • DSO Metric: 60 days or less
  • Month end close days: 7 days or less
  • Operational-focused metrics
Who we're looking for

Experience & credentials
  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role
  • Deep hands-on experience in both AP and AR operations - not just oversight, but genuine process ownership
  • Proven track record owning month-end close in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP/ASPE and Canadian indirect tax (GST/HST, PST); US state sales tax experience is an asset
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or a comparable ERP; procurement or spend management platforms are a strong plus
  • Experience in the technology/SaaS industry is strongly preferred
  • Maintains a professional and current LinkedIn profile, ensuring it is updated upon joining Procurify to reflect their new role and maintain a consistent company presence.

Mindset & approach
  • Genuinely curious about AI in accounting - you're already experimenting, not just reading about it
  • Obsessed with process improvement; you see inefficiency as a problem to solve, not a reality to accept
  • A natural super user - you get into the details of systems, you find the workarounds, and you advocate for better
  • Execution-focused with strong organizational discipline
  • Strong communicator - comfortable translating accounting detail for non-finance audiences and influencing cross-functionally
  • Collaborative and low-ego - you partner well with product, ops, and finance leadership

  • Base Salary Range: $86,000 - $108,000 CAD (This range is dependent on experience and not inclusive of any bonus, commission, benefits or equity that might exist in your total compensation package.)
