Full Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:

The Manager, Accounting is responsible for overseeing the monthly and quarterly fund accounting processes for a publicly traded real estate fund. The role ensures the accuracy and completeness of fund-level accounting, consolidations, reconciliations, and cash and liquidity management activities. In addition, the position supports quarterly and annual GAAP-compliant financial reporting, analytical review and external reporting requirements, while providing financial insights to support management decision-making.

The position partners closely with portfolio management, tax, treasury, and external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial data and the timely completion of accounting, close and reporting activities. The role also supports fund operations, transaction-related accounting activities, audit compliance processes, and the continuous enhancement of accounting and reporting processes and controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monthly reporting and analysis
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Accounting for fund level debt, property taxes, insurance payables and other non-operating accruals.
  • Calculation and accounting for fund management fees.
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Completion and review of quarter end and month end checklist tasks.
  • Prepare schedules and support for audits, tax preparation and valuations.
  • Review of quarterly and annual financial reporting, including consolidated financial reporting as required under GAAP.
  • Review of fund-level results and prepare analytical reviews and variance analyses.

Transaction support
  • Assist in technical accounting research and analysis related to investment or fund-level transactions and accounting matters.
  • Assist in establishing accounting and reporting structures for new entities and financing activities.

Cash and liquidity management
  • Monitor cash balances and liquidity needs across the fund and related legal entities, approving settlement of invoices and working with team on capital draws and distributions.
  • Approval of non-operating accruals and accounts payable.
  • Preparation and/or review of lender reporting for third party debt that might be in place and supporting management, and other teams in calculation of loan level covenants.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 5+ years' previous related Fund Accounting plus Yardi Investment Accounting module and Financial Reporting experience is preferred.
  • Prior Fund accounting experience including preparation/reviews of full-cycle accounting, financial statements, general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, account reconciliations and consolidated reporting within a fund environment in Yardi platform.
