Full Job Description

Maintenance Supervisor, Onsite-Allentown, PA

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is the frontline leader responsible for safe and effective execution of maintenance work across the manufacturing floor. This is a floor-focused leadership role, not primarily an administrative position.

The Supervisor owns today’s execution: technician deployment, active-job support, break-in control, repair quality, safe work practices, communication with Operations, and the handoff of equipment risk. The Maintenance Planner owns future work readiness and detailed planning.

The Job:

  • Receive shift handoff and review equipment currently down, unresolved issues, overnight break-ins, and critical plant risks.
  • Confirm technician attendance, available skills, and daily work assignments.
  • Participate in the Daily Tier meeting and communicate maintenance status, risks, expected return-to-service timing, and needed escalation.
  • Conduct the daily Supervisor/Planner huddle and provide the Planner with field conditions, execution issues, and upcoming access needs.
  • Spend the majority of the working day on the manufacturing floor supporting maintenance execution.
  • Visit active maintenance jobs, confirm safe work practices, remove roadblocks, and verify work is progressing to plan.
  • Coordinate equipment access and production priorities with Operations without allowing every request to become an emergency.
  • Manage break-in work and document why scheduled work was displaced.
  • Ensure appropriate LOTO, permits, safe-work requirements, tools, and PPE are in place before and during maintenance work.
  • Verify repair quality and support proper equipment turnover before returning equipment to normal service.
  • Identify temporary repairs and ensure permanent corrective work is created and prioritized.
  • Recognize repeat failures and trigger escalation for RCA or reliability review when needed.
  • Review technician work-order closeout for meaningful findings, labor, failure information, parts usage, and follow-up work.
  • Coach technicians on troubleshooting, precision repair, housekeeping, maintenance standards, and work-order discipline.
  • Provide a clear end-of-shift handoff for unresolved equipment, safety, parts, and production risks.

What This Role Owns

  • Safe and effective execution of maintenance work during the shift.
  • Technician assignments, coaching, accountability, and field support.
  • Management of legitimate emergency and break-in work.
  • Protection of the approved schedule whenever plant conditions allow.
  • Repair-quality verification and accurate work-order feedback.

The Person:

  • Strong industrial maintenance background with practical mechanical and/or electrical experience.
  • High school diploma, Associate's degree preferred.
  • 7 years' experience in maintenance with 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technicians in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of LOTO, safe work, permits, and industrial maintenance hazards.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple equipment issues without losing control of scheduled work.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS work orders and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
