JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor at Martin Marietta is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end health of plant assets and the safety of the maintenance team. Acting as a "Guardian Angel" for their crew, the Supervisor ensures that all stationary and mobile equipment-including crushers, conveyors, screens, and pumps-is maintained to maximize uptime and operational efficiency.

The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate repair and maintenance activities at Martin Marietta's Spec Agg Quarry in Golden, CO. This position will interact with all plant personnel to achieve the highest levels of safety, production, efficiency, and housekeeping while meeting goals outlined in the business and profit plans.

This role balances technical expertise with people management, focusing on initiative-taking preventive maintenance (PM) strategies and rapid response to mechanical failures. The successful candidate will foster a culture of Safety First, Quality Second, and Production Third, ensuring that every team member returns home safely every day while meeting the company's rigorous production goals.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct daily MSHA pre-shift inspections of equipment and work areas to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Develop and execute daily and weekly maintenance schedules, prioritizing the maintenance backlog in coordination with the Plant Manager.
  • Oversee the repair and optimization of stationary equipment (conveyors, shakers, gearboxes) and mobile fleet assets.
  • Mentor junior technicians on safe maintenance practices, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out/Try-Out (LOTOTO).
  • Overall responsibility for planning and staffing maintenance crew for a 4MTPY hard rock quarry.
  • Assist Management in the scheduling and timing of repairs to all equipment at the site.
  • Monitor plant operations daily to ensure production and QC standards are maintained. Take corrective action when deficiencies occur.
  • Monitoring and reporting on safety and production KPIs.
  • Ensure personnel comply with Federal, State and Company safety and environmental rules and regulations through daily inspections of site, plant machinery, equipment, personal activities and working conditions.
  • Develop and nurture empowered/self-directed work teams in all phases of the operation.
  • Purchase or direct the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with Martin Marietta's Controllers policies - recommend vendors to reduce costs.
  • Coordinate staffing with the Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager to operate the plant and coordinate the same needs with labor law compliance and affirmative action with the Human Resource Department, properly and safely.
  • Supervisory responsibility involving staffing, performance appraisals, training and development, promotions, salary increases, discipline, and motivating staff.
  • Assist in the development of the annual human resources business plan and ensure continual development of employees through training, cross-training and other development tools.
  • Manage proper inventory levels of parts needed to maintain target uptime. Inventories include but not limited to screen panels, GET, wear metal, bearings, misc. consumables such as welding rod and torching supplies.
  • Maintain operation security.

QUALIFICATIONS

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for plant maintenance and equipment servicing.
  • Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. You must be able to maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.
  • Strong hand-eye-foot coordination is essential for operating hand/foot controls. You must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.

Working Conditions

All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.

COMPENSATION

The hiring range for this position is $88,000 -$123,000 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position. In addition, this role is eligible for our annual bonus program. Bonuses awarded under this program are determined based on the performance of the organization and the employee.
