Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supervising the everyday operation and upkeep of equipment and buildings, project planning and implementation, and safety issues within and around the plant.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 3:00pm. However, hours may vary based on business needs. Position requires flexibility to provide additional coverage for operations, staffing support, special projects, off-hour repairs, emergency response, employee training and mentoring, and other operational requirements as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Active participation in the daily maintenance of operations with an outlook towards efficiencies, safety, and downstream customer satisfaction.
  • Daily monitoring and reviewing of physical plant (boiler, refrigeration, electrical) all with an outlook towards cost efficient operation.
  • Planning and implementing projects as well as monitoring the quality and safety of contractor's completion of duties.
  • Daily interaction with maintenance personnel on procedures and assignments, with safety and efficient operations in mind.
  • Solving problems and hands on interaction with machines.
  • Controlling inventories, parts ordering, vendor communication. Focus on improving operations and improving costs.
  • Communicating daily with plant manager and maintenance manager on operational and company needs.
  • Hiring, scheduling, performance appraisals and payroll.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Able to demonstrate knowledge of safety areas reviewed in the safety orientation program.
  • Available to work to support business needs and/or critical situations.
  • Perform assigned duties satisfactorily and in a timely manner.
  • Perform assigned duties following "Good Manufacturing Practices."
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Education and Experience:
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in plant maintenance or equivalent.
  • Wastewater operations experience, preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, etc)
  • Excellent troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with little supervision.
  • Intimate knowledge of equipment and building.
  • Must be self motivated.

Physical Demands:
  • Standing: long periods (up to 8 hours)
  • Sitting: occasionally for short periods.
  • Walking: long periods.
  • Bending & Twisting: frequently.
  • Lifting: Heavy (50+ lbs) frequently.
  • Carrying: Heavy (40-60 lbs) frequently.
  • Pushing/Pulling: under 75 lbs without assistance frequently.
  • Varying noise and heat levels.
