Maintenance Operations Manager

We are looking for a Maintenance Operations Manager to join our Fleet Solutions team in Chula Vista, CA.

As a Maintenance Operations Manager, you will support and coordinate day-to-day operations focused on, but not limited to, the following:

  • Onsite and Offsite maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) tasks

  • Manages personnel and resources to support open project and order execution

  • Leads and supports safety program activities

  • Supports cross-functional team operations and events

  • Supports quality, delivery, cost initiatives across the business

  • Monitors and maintains workforce training and development requirements

The Maintenance Operations Manager will work closely with members of other Fleet Solutions departments to understand dynamic project/task obligations, coordinate personnel and equipment resources in response to project requirements, and ensure maintenance operations are in line with quality, traceability, and performance expectations, compliant with internal and external work standards. The ideal candidate shall demonstrate great attention to detail, a data driven mentality, and an experienced understanding of dynamic MRO work environments supporting the maritime industry. The role provides technical support to various business processes such as sales proposals, program management project teams, and inventory management.

Location: Chula Vista, CA (on-site)

Salary:$108,900 to $145,200

Your Challenge

  • Learn and understand functionality of simple and complex equipment.

  • Support mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting on various equipment.

  • Support task execution on equipment installed on both commercial and non-commercial (i.e., Naval) vessels.

  • Maintain a professional and task oriented mentally while executing duties.

  • Support maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations in accordance with technical specifications and manuals.

  • Review and understand technical blueprints, drawings, and/or sketches.

  • Complete required reports and test documentation to support project deliverables.

  • Manage technicians and maintenance operations responsible for repairing and maintaining production, test, facility, and support equipment.

  • Establish and improve preventive maintenance programs, procedures, schedules, and performance measures.

  • Manage training, workforce development, staffing, and performance of maintenance personnel.

  • Oversee spare parts inventory, maintenance documentation, and resource planning.

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Safety teams to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support manufacturing objectives

  • Ability to comply with governing industry standards while performing duties.

  • Ability to travel and work overtime.

What You Bring

  • 8 612 years of maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, or related technical experience.

  • Must be a US Citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining security clearance.

  • Associates degree, or higher, in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Maintenance, or equivalent.

  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal degree.

  • Basic shop skills and understanding of common manual and powered tools.

  • Hands-on technical capability and desire to understand mechanical equipment functionality.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic diagrams.

  • Understanding of mechanical inspection and alignment practices on heavy machinery equipment, final diagnoses, and the proposed corrective action plan in accordance with manuals and other repair documentation.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, able to go into tight access, and be able to go up and down ladders to access equipment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and multi-task coordination skills.

  • Strong people leadership experience.

  • Ability to understand and execute work under emergent and strict scheduling deadlines.

  • Knowledge of MS office tools/programs

  • Preferred:

  • Experience in Ship Repair and/or Technical Service Industry

  • Experience using Oracle ERP system.
