Job Description

Position Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities of skilled and unskilled labor engaged in repair, maintenance, electrical, mobile equipment, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in general building maintenance of an industrial plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Prioritizes and schedules repair, preventive and general maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in designated area to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Responds promptly to requests from production supervision for maintenance attention of equipment and coordinates a schedule for repairs. Troubleshoots breakdowns and recommends corrective action.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products under the technical guidance of Plant Engineering. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, gas, and air required for operations. Works with others to ensure reliable electrical service.
  • Implements preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. Is the responsible subject matter expert of the maintenance program and associated maintenance management software. Will assist development of TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) checklists with plant engineering and operations.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Ensures adequate spare parts are available for the equipment in the designated area of responsibility by requisitioning tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures, including Lean activities, and to improve their understanding of the equipment.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Manage or assist with maintenance projects in coordination with plant engineering. Responsible for providing updates, supporting with labor, tracking spend versus budget, and maintaining vendors. General projects may include but are not limited to 6S, major overhaul, clean up, and CAPx.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Develop, implement, and manage department performance metrics and dashboards to monitor maintenance effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during equipment breakdowns, providing timely and accurate updates to leadership and key stakeholders regarding repair status, impact, and expected completion timelines.
  • Lead and coordinate maintenance response during equipment failures, ensuring a high sense of urgency while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and company policies.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and reduced unplanned downtime.
  • Ensure all preventive maintenance activities are properly scheduled, tracked, and completed through the computerized Maintenance Management System.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervise 30-50 employees in the Maintenance Department, some of whom may be Shift Supervisors or Leads, across multiple shifts. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or eight to ten years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience supervising a minimum of 20 mechanics or maintenance support staff.

  • Ability to function and communicate in a high noise environment, i.e., a hydraulic press pump room.
  • Experience within the forgings industry, aerospace manufacturing, furnaces, heavy hydraulic equipment, material handling mobile equipment, cranes, baghouses, CNC machines, VARs, and cooling towers
  • Must have a wide practical knowledge of a variety of equipment, such as, but not limited to, overhead cranes, blast cleaning equipment and air compressors.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $130000 to $180000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
