Full Job Description
SUMMARY

Perform detailed and complex job functions (i.e., normal course of business activities). Lead the Maintenance and Facilities Department in support of AMI production, equipment reliability, facility upkeep, cost control, and continuous improvement activities.

The Maintenance and Facilities Section Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Maintenance and Facilities Department, including maintenance operations, facilities management, equipment uptime, preventative maintenance, budget control, contractor management, technician development, and support of company objectives.

Work with maintenance and facilities team members, OLTs, supervisors, assistant managers, engineering, manufacturing, and other AMI departments to solve downtime issues, short stop issues, preventative maintenance concerns, and facility-related issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Compliance
  • Enforce workplace safety and regulatory standards.
  • Support safe work practices throughout the Maintenance and Facilities Department.
  • Ensure team members and contractors follow AMI safety requirements.
  • Support safety audits, inspections, and corrective action activities.

Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor floor-side leaders to support their day-to-day duties.
  • Meet with floor-side leaders daily to understand current department plans and abnormalities affecting the department.
  • Supervise, train, develop, and schedule maintenance and facilities for technicians.
  • Support employee development, accountability, and succession planning.
  • Support annual performance reviews, employee development planning, and succession planning activities.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure achievement of departmental KPIs and company objectives.

Preventative Maintenance / Repair
  • Track and confirm completion of routine inspections and upkeep for all machinery, tools, building systems, and facility assets.
  • Lead predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Oversee the repair and calibration of advanced manufacturing systems, including PLC units and robotic equipment.
  • Analyze plant downtime to support line uptime improvements.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and implementation of effective countermeasures.

Facilities Management
  • Oversee building maintenance, utility systems, grounds, and facility improvement projects.
  • Coordinate building and campus repairs.
  • Ensure facility systems remain operational and compliant with company requirements.

Budget Management
  • Control and track department expenses.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Monitor and control operational costs while supporting department objectives.
  • Develop and manage department budgets and capital expenditure requests.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures and identify cost reduction opportunities.

Vendor Coordination
  • Hire and manage outside contractors for specialized repairs and large projects.
  • Coordinate vendor support for maintenance, facilities, and technical repairs.
  • Monitor contractor performance, safety, and project completion.

Other
  • Lead and support implementation, continuous improvement, and utilization of the e-Maintenance system.
  • Support new equipment installation, plant projects, start-ups, and production requirements.
  • Perform other duties assigned to ensure achievement of section, department, and company objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for supervising Maintenance and Facilities team members including technicians, OLTs, contractors, and assigned department personnel.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training, performance management, employee development, safety compliance, budget accountability, staffing support, and achievement of department objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to prioritize workload.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of machine mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and materials.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills.

  • Computer skills, Excel, Word, Email, PowerPoint, SolidWorks.
  • PLC programming experience a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee development skills.
  • Experience with budget management, contractor oversight, and preventative maintenance systems.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • An associate degree with minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance role.
  • Or 8+ years' experience in a maintenance or manufacturing support role.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of machine mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience leading maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting preventative maintenance programs, and coordinating manpower resources.
  • Experience supervising employees, contractors, and maintenance-related projects preferred.
