Reporting to the Plant Manager, the
Maintenance and Technical Services Manager is responsible for the overall performance of maintenance, engineering, and technical services activities.
The successful candidate will act as a strategic leader to ensure equipment reliability, facility performance, and effective support for manufacturing operations, while meeting health and safety, quality, cost, and productivity objectives.
This role contributes to ABB Canada's
Electrification, Installation Products division and is based in
Pointe-Claire, Quebec.
The work model for this role is
100% on-site.
Responsibilities- Define and deploy the maintenance strategy (preventive, corrective, and predictive) to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
- Plan, organize, and optimize the activities of the maintenance and technical services department.
- Provide leadership to teams of supervisors, engineers, and technicians, while developing internal capabilities and technical expertise.
- Support manufacturing operations (assembly, packaging, and plastic injection molding) in resolving critical technical issues.
- Manage budgets, capital investments, and technology improvement projects.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on the implementation of new equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Actively participate in the plant leadership team and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor departmental performance against targets.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or a related discipline).
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including several years in a leadership role.
- Bilingual French-English. English is necessary to communicate with clients outside Quebec.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and major industrial projects.
- Experience in machine fleet optimization and automation initiatives.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma).
- Experience in plastic injection molding is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
