As a
Machinist, Borger Refinery, you will play a key role in operating a wide variety of machining equipment with varying day-to-day work assignments.
The starting hourly rate ranges from $40.03 to $50.49, depending on skills and experience. Employees have the opportunity to reach the top craft pay of $54.58 per hour within 48 months.

Candidates who receive an offer of employment will then be required to successfully complete a pre-employment due diligence process including background check, hair follicle drug screen, medical, hearing, respiratory and vision exams, and agility testing.
What You'll Do- Operating lathes, drill presses, vices, and milling equipment
- Operating pressure relief valve testing equipment
- Valve repairs including gate, plug, orbit, globe, check, and pressure relief valves
- Using precision measuring devices and reading blueprints
- Performing work activities that include pulling, lifting, twisting, working in confined spaces, and on elevated platforms requiring fall protection
- Entering and retrieving computer data as well as data analysis
- Using fire equipment when necessary along when many other general maintenance activities
What You'll Bring - Required- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Currently hold (and able to maintain) a valid driver's license
- Willing and able to comply, with or without reasonable accommodation, with the following:
- Work at least an 8-hour rotating shift and up to a 12-hour rotating shift, which includes some weekends and holidays
- Work overtime
- Work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
- Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
- Climb up to 250 feet in height
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
- Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
- Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
- Perform firefighting duties
- Work outside in harsh weather conditions
- Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and high temperatures
- Read technical procedures and materials in English
- Learn computer software associated with process operations
What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred- Machinist journeyman certification strongly preferred
- Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited school
- 2 years or more of Military experience that is metal working related
- 2 years or more of experience working in a refinery, chemical, power, nuclear, wastewater treatment, or pharmaceutical industry
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Strong oral/written communication skills and the ability to interact and work in a team environment
Compensation and Other Info:- The starting hourly rate ranges from $40.03 to $50.49, depending on skills and experience. Employees have the opportunity to reach the top craft pay of $54.58 per hour within 48 months. Pay and future pay changes are determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The
Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
