Job TitleMachining Tooling Engineer
Overview / Summary We are seeking a Machining Tooling Engineer to support machining launch activities, tooling development, and manufacturing process improvements. The role involves working closely with launch teams and suppliers to ensure successful machining line implementation, process capability, quality compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities - Support machining processes through tooling development and implementation
- Support implementation of tool tracking systems
- Identify tool-dominant features and implement appropriate controls
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity
- Complete PPAP quality launch documentation
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to improve manufacturing processes and products
- Develop action plans to investigate, prioritize, and resolve process and supplier issues
- Verify corrective actions on internal and supplier processes
- Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with manufacturing guidelines
- Create process documentation and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes
- Deliver capable processes and tooling for gear machining operations
- Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, and environmental standards
- Support ISO 14001 compliance, internal auditing, and related activities
Required Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of related experience
- Experience with tooling, tool design, machining, and problem solving
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Experience in high-production machining tool manufacturing
- Experience with gear blade grinding
- Experience programming tool presetters (Royal/Zoller)
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
- Experience with FMEA, PPAP, and DOE methodologies
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with CNC mills
- Manufacturing engineering experience
