Full Job Description
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the warehouse and distribution operations to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. The Manager is responsible for developing procedures to improve efficiency, reducing costs, engaging other departments to improve the customer's experience and maintaining inventory control for all finished goods and service parts. Is responsible for training and mentoring employees in all facets of our warehouse management system.

Position Responsibilities May include:
  • Manage a high volume muti shift function shift operation within a large DC > 75 employees.
  • Manage a standalone DC 60 300K sq. ft.
  • Responsible for DC facility maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain efficient procedures and processes to maintain efficient warehouse operations.
  • Collaborate with the Director to establish and implement departmental short term and long-term goals, provide metrics, KPIs and analyze data and make decisions using the data as a benchmark.
  • Manage and ensure all company policies and procedures are communicated, interpreted and followed.
  • Labor management, hiring, training, seasonal labor planning, material handling management.
  • Directly interact with our internal and external customer base on service issues and or damage complaints. Visit customers as the need arises.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement processes and change management.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with other departments.
  • Assist Inventory Control to help maintain a high level of inventory accuracy.
  • Develop and mentor employees to improve managerial bench strength.
  • Manage safety programs and housekeeping procedures that result in a clean, safe working environment.
  • Manage operation within budgeted goals outlined by Logistics Finance.
  • Exercise disciplined expense control on all operational activities.
  • Facility management including preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs

Nature & Scope:
  • Ensures work is aligned with the Senior Managers and/or Director's expectations, goals, and vision
  • Accountable for implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for short-term results
  • Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from Senior Manager/Director
  • Works on difficult to moderately complex issues and projects
  • Provides guidance and training to subordinates
  • Has authority to hire, recommend pay, establish performance and recommend for termination
  • Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge with high performance warehouse and distribution operations, business principles, processes and best practices to effectively manage the warehouse and distribution functions with a bottom-line result. Includes knowledge of compliance standards in related areas-Industry, OSHA, EEOC and Employment law
  • Excellent leadership skills; able to envision, develop, direct, delegate responsibility and authority and drive employee engagement and performance management skills
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office 365 - Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint (Advanced level with creating spreadsheets, graphs, charts and preparing presentations) - Strong knowledge of WMS systems
  • High level of attention to detail, effective organizational and time management and project management skills
  • Analytical ability - able to convert data into information, identify trends and effectively communicate it
  • Problem solving - effective elimination of root cause of problems using systematic approach
  • Priority setting - capable of managing multiple inputs and directions to deliver the desired results
  • Effective communication skills; clearly convey and transmit information through written and verbal form including strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong influencing skills & ability to collaborate and lead change with various partners cross-functionally

Experience:
  • 7+ years working within logistics/supply chain role; background in fulfillment, shipping/receiving and warehousing
  • 3+ years in a managerial/leadership role
  • 3+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, change management and Lean methodologies

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree required - majoring in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Management
