At Caterpillar's Integrated Components Division (ICD), innovation and customer impact are at the core of everything we do. Our team plays a critical role across the full value stream, from procurement and design to advanced manufacturing, delivering high-quality Wear and Maintenance Components such as Undercarriage, Ground Engaging Tools, Metal Face Seals, and more.

Within our global Wear & Maintenance Components Operations, we support 19 manufacturing facilities across the U.S., Europe, Mexico, Brazil, and Asia. As part of our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team, we're looking for a Logistics & Automation Engineering Specialist to help shape the future of manufacturing through automation, robotics, and advanced logistics solutions.

In this role, you'll lead automation and robotic integration projects, introduce new technologies, and support complex material handling systems. You'll also serve as a technical expert in controls, electrical architecture, and system design, while ensuring equipment safety, reliability, and data integrity across our global operations.

What You Will Do:
  • Drive improvements in global material flow by standardizing packaging and dunnage, optimizing inventory strategies, and managing WIP to stabilize production
  • Support warehouse and ASRS design, focusing on layout optimization, material flow, and safe, efficient operations
  • Lead the integration of advanced robotics and automation solutions to enhance material handling and overall manufacturing performance
  • Design, install, and validate electrical systems and controls architecture, ensuring reliable and scalable automation across facilities
  • Develop equipment specifications and support new equipment builds and upgrades
  • Establish and promote automation and digital standards to scale best practices globally
  • Leverage production data and reporting systems to identify opportunities for quality and process improvements
  • Lead complex, cross-functional engineering projects, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication


Education requirement:

Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise.

What skills you will have:

Robotics / Computer Controlled Machinery: Demonstrates extensive knowledge in leading the integration of advanced robotics to improve material handling and overall logistics flow within manufacturing environments. Works with complex robotic systems and automated equipment, evaluating and implementing new technologies while supporting programming, commissioning, and scaling across global operations to drive efficiency and consistency.

Project Management: Applies extensive knowledge to lead complex, cross-functional engineering projects across multiple facilities. Develops and manages project plans, timelines, and budgets, identifies risks, and ensures alignment with stakeholders to drive successful delivery of automation and logistics-focused initiatives.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Leverages extensive knowledge to analyze manufacturing, automation, and logistics challenges, evaluate data and tradeoffs, and drive informed decision-making. Recommends improvements that enhance material flow, efficiency, and operational performance while guiding teams to achieve business objectives.

Engineering - Manufacturing: Utilizes working knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles to design and improve systems, processes, and material flow. Supports equipment specification, installation, and validation, while optimizing warehouse, WIP, and inventory-related processes to ensure compliance with safety standards and support continuous improvement.

Additional Information:

This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Peoria IL office.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
