Full Job Description
A boutique defense litigation firm, is seeking litigation associates to join its Los Angeles office. They seek attorneys who are eager to become courtroom litigators.

The firm litigators gain substantial hands-on litigation experience in a collaborative, professional work environment, develop excellent courtroom skills, and assume increasingly important litigation responsibilities in our cases.

The firm maintains a thriving litigation practice representing vehicle manufacturers and distributors in business disputes and breach-of-warranty matters in California state and federal courts. The firm handles more than 15 jury trials each year and has established an excellent track record on behalf of its clients.

For attorneys who want to become skilled courtroom litigators, the firm offers exceptional opportunities to learn by doing. Associates receive meaningful responsibility throughout the life of a case and work closely with experienced trial attorneys. Their associates regularly have opportunities to serve as second chair at trial and, once they have developed the necessary experience, may serve as first chair trial attorneys.

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:
  • Drafting and responding to written discovery
  • Handling discovery disputes
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Preparing for and participating in mediations
  • Researching and drafting motions
  • Making court appearances
  • Preparing motions in limine, witness examinations, exhibits, and other trial materials
  • Participating in jury trials, including second-chair and potential first-chair responsibilities

The ideal candidate will either have experience with some or all phases of civil litigation or possess a strong desire to learn. Candidates should have strong research and writing skills, sound judgment, strong initiative, and a genuine interest in developing as courtroom attorneys. They are looking for attorneys who want to learn, accept responsibility, and become active participants in the firm's cases and trials.
