Title:

Lifecycle Logistics SME / Course Developer

KBR is seeking a highly motivated self-starter, adaptable to a fast-paced exciting environment as a Lifecycle Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME), to support the Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) at WPAFB, Ohio.  The Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) is the joint USAF & USSF acquisition course in which only the most highly qualified applicants are chosen to attend through a competitive selection process. The AQIC was established under the U.S. Air Force Vice Chief of Staff’s direction to integrate acquisition into the Air Force Weapons School.  The AQIC resides as Detachment 2 (Det 2) under the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) with the purpose to cultivate military and civilian instructors within the acquisition force who are skilled in tactical acquisition, instructorship, and operational integration. Within small class sizes, AQIC is intentionally designed to mirror the training methodology, organization, and rigor of the USAF Weapons School curriculum. This is a rare opportunity to provide cutting-edge SME support developing the best and brightest young acquisition officers and professionals into expert instructors and integrators who are deliberately and strategically placed throughout the acquisition enterprise to tackle the USAF and USSF toughest problems.

This is not a remote job opportunity. The applicant must be local to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Key Responsibilities: Performs the following duties in support of the Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC):

  • Provide product support through experiential instructorship as it relates to the Federal Dept of Defense, and Dept of the Air Force Logistics discipline.
  • Producing and delivering coursework that provides a thorough understanding of systems acquisition logistics practices, processes, tools, and techniques used throughout the product life cycle and will include statutory requirements and policy governing product life cycle logistics and product support and can make a connection to the operational environment. 
  • Responsible for developing curriculum, instructing students, facilitating meaningful discussions, and enabling student-centered active learning using classrooms and technology in the following key areas (not totally inclusive):
  • Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM)
  • Life Cycle Sustainment Planning
  • Product Support and Life-Cycle Sustainment Plan
  • Logistics Enterprise
  • Maintenance Planning and Concepts
  • Depot maintenance and sustainment operations and processes
  • Software sustainment activities
  • Performance Based Logistics
  • Art of the Possible management
  • Additional duties include, but not limited to, evaluating students across various graded events (exercises, exams, briefings, etc.), serving as research paper advisor/evaluator, and providing continuous feedback to the military cadre on how to improve the course flow.

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-Site
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%; Ability to travel out of local area 15% of calendar year if needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform required tasks in support of students/clients interested in Acquisition Management and to offer real-life examples of first-hand knowledge of related DoD policies and practices.
  • Demonstrated professional knowledge with 10-15 years of specialized senior experience in Supply Chain Management fundamentals including Risk Management (SCRM);  Life Cycle Sustainment Planning; Product Support and Life-Cycle Sustainment Plan; DoD and USAF Logistics Enterprise; Maintenance Planning and Concepts; Depot maintenance and sustainment operations and processes; USAF maintenance and supply operations;  Software sustainment activities; Performance Based Logistics; Art of the Possible management; System Program Office experience.
  • Education: An earned bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study with demonstrated teaching ability. 

  • Security Clearance Requirement: Eligible to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance

  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly and expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning academic, administrative, and technical subject matters.
  • Ability to perform tasks in support of all facets of acquisition logistics, sustainment, and product support.
  • Offer real-life examples of first-hand knowledge of DoD policies and practices related to acquisition logistics, product support, operational logistics and sustainment experiences.
  • Ability to travel out of local area 15% of calendar year if needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Operations School (AMMOS) Graduate
  •  Ability to handle multiple shifting tasks and demands.
  • Familiarity with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-101, DoD 5000.02, Adaptive Acquisition Framework, and other related DoD and Air Force acquisition regulations and related concepts.
  • Basic understanding of program management, contracting management, life-cycle logistics, systems engineering, and financial management.
  • A Master of Science degree (or higher) and/or professional teaching experience of adult students is highly desirable.
