The roleRole OverviewSoftwareOne is seeking an experienced SAP License Advisory Lead to help lead and grow our SAP License Advisory practice across North America. This role combines deep SAP licensing expertise with business leadership responsibilities, serving as both a trusted advisor to clients and a key contributor to SoftwareOne's SAP advisory strategy.
The SAP License Advisory Lead will lead complex SAP licensing engagements, support sales and business development efforts, contribute to service development, and collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to expand SoftwareOne's SAP advisory capabilities and market presence. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert for SAP licensing, compliance, optimization, and contract advisory matters while helping clients maximize the value of their SAP investments and minimize licensing risk.
Key ResponsibilitiesSAP Advisory Delivery Leadership- Lead SAP license advisory engagements throughout the customer lifecycle, including:
- SAP license assessments and effective license position (ELP) reviews
- SAP audit defense and response support
- SAP contract and entitlement analysis
- SAP licensing optimization initiatives
- SAP indirect access assessments
- SAP S/4HANA licensing transition evaluations
- SAP cloud and subscription licensing reviews
- Provide expert guidance regarding SAP licensing policies, contractual obligations, and compliance risks.
- Develop defensible licensing positions and recommendations for clients.
- Present findings, risk assessments, and optimization opportunities to client stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Review and assure the quality of SAP advisory deliverables.
- Support the development of methodologies, templates, and best practices for SAP advisory engagements.
Business Development & Practice Growth- Partner with Sales, Solution Specialists, Customer Success, and Practice Leadership teams to identify and pursue SAP advisory opportunities.
- Participate in customer presentations, workshops, proposals, and executive briefings.
- Support the creation of statements of work (SOWs), effort estimates, and solution designs.
- Contribute to annual SAP advisory revenue, utilization, and growth objectives.
- Assist in developing go-to-market strategies for SAP advisory services.
- Identify opportunities to expand SAP advisory engagements into broader SoftwareOne service offerings, including ITAM, FinOps, Cloud, Application Services, and Managed Services.
Thought Leadership & Market Development- Monitor SAP licensing program changes, contractual developments, and industry trends.
- Create internal and external thought leadership content, including webinars, whitepapers, blogs, and conference presentations.
- Enable SoftwareOne consultants, sales teams, and account teams on SAP licensing topics and market developments.
- Represent SoftwareOne as a trusted SAP licensing authority in customer and industry forums.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management- Collaborate with global SAP licensing experts and advisory teams to share knowledge, methodologies, and best practices.
- Work closely with delivery managers and consulting teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Support mentoring and development of SAP advisory consultants.
- Contribute to the ongoing maturation and scalability of SoftwareOne's SAP License Advisory practice.
What we need to see from you- 8+ years of experience in SAP licensing, software asset management (SAM), IT asset management (ITAM), software compliance, or related consulting fields.
- Demonstrated expertise in SAP licensing models, contracts, compliance programs, and optimization strategies.
- Experience leading customer-facing advisory engagements.
- Strong understanding of SAP licensing topics including:
- Named User licensing
- Digital Access and indirect access licensing
- SAP contract interpretation
- SAP audit and compliance processes
- SAP S/4HANA licensing models
- SAP cloud and subscription licensing
- Experience presenting complex licensing concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
- Strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business functions and geographic regions.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working for a software publisher, consulting organization, SAM provider, or large enterprise with significant SAP investments.
- Experience supporting SAP contract negotiations and commercial discussions.
- Familiarity with SAP measurement tools and license administration processes.
- Experience with software asset management platforms such as Flexera, ServiceNow, Snow, or comparable solutions.
- Demonstrated success supporting business development, practice leadership, or service creation initiatives.
- Experience speaking at industry events, webinars, or conferences.
