LibertyWorksMechanical Systems Design Engineer

Duration:Permanent

Location:Indianapolis, Indiana  

Role Overview: 

In this role, you will be responsible for covering the scope of electronic unit development for high integrity harsh environments. This includes accountability for architecture design, verification, process development and process improvement.  

 

You will design circuits that meet performance and reliability requirements for airworthy/certified electronic engine controllers and monitoring systems for use in a wide range of systems.  You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of projects including the initial architecture concept, the design and development stage, testing of prototypes and the final manufacture and implementation of a new product or system.  You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together to tackle technical challenges in a stimulating and collaborative environment. 

 
What you’ll be doing: 

  • Collaborating with other systems teams and customers to fully capture and synthesize requirements for electrical components and hardware. 

  • Architect, design, develop electrical hardware products through testing, diagnosing, and inspection throughout the R&D program lifecycle. 

  • Executing electronics/hardware development activities and ensure the delivery of a compliant sub-system level solution for R&D programs. 

  • Ensuring project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and timescale) are identified, managed (including integration of risk activities in the project plan) and escalated in accordance with the risk management plan. 

  • Designing for functional safety and security, preferably within the aerospace industry.  Experience with various aerospace environmental and functional testing practices and methods including electromagnetic interference (EMI).

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, software, controls, or systemsand/orrelated degree

  • A strong passion for the future of technology 

  • A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations: in most cases, you’ll be able to meet the requirements in the location you are recruited to, however, we may need you to be flexible and travel between sites during or for your internship n open-minded, curious, and agile approach to work and career development  

  • Ability to work independently or with a small team of engineers with cross-functional skills to ensure all sub-system program objectives/deliverables are met.

  • Ability to work hands-on in electronics development labs.

  • Experience with electrical or electronics product development, such as cable harnesses, printed circuit boards, or control panelspreferred

  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams of software engineering and mechanical packagingpreferred

  • Experience with Aerospace Defense engineering environments and restrictedprograms preferred

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, and presentation) for both expert and non-expert audiencespreferred

  • Experience with embedded electronicspreferred

  • Experience with Texas Instruments, Xilinx, Microchip microcontrollers or FPGAs or integrated control solutionspreferred

  • Experience with airworthiness and design assurance of hardware to DO-254 or military standardspreferred

Work authorization eligibility: To be considered, you must also be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.
