Full Job Description
QXO is seeking a practical, solutions-oriented Legal Counsel to support a diversified building materials distribution company. This role will serve as a key legal partner to senior executives and operational leaders across the organization. This attorney will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, with an emphasis on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and operational contracts. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in areas such as corporate, litigation and employment matters, with particularly strong experience in commercial contracts, while having sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders. This position is well suited for an attorney who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, balancing legal risk with business objectives, and helping internal teams execute efficiently and effectively. What you'll do: • Proactively advise senior executives, management, and cross-functional operational teams on legal risks and strategic considerations in day-to-day business activities. • Serve as a primary legal point of contact for business teams on a wide variety of commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, supply agreements, licensing agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other business contracts. • Support compliance initiatives and help maintain company policies and procedures relating to employment matters, data privacy, dispute resolution, and commercial agreements. • Actively engage in managing and resolving claims and litigation, with the assistance of outside counsel as needed. • Advise on employment matters, with the assistance of employment law-focused colleagues within the legal department, as needed. • Help improve and implement legal department processes, including contract management systems, approval workflows, and knowledge management practices. • Assist with managing outside counsel. • Support M&A activities, including conducting due diligence, and drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction documents. What you'll bring: • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in Colorado, or eligibility to obtain admission in that jurisdiction. • 4-7+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts. • Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities with risk tolerance calibration and operational execution. • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with legal and business colleagues. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Prior in-house legal experience. Actual offers depend on factors such as location, experience, skills, and market data. This position may also offer variable compensation. Salary Range: USD $150,000.00 - USD $195,000.00 /Yr.
