Full Job Description
ISO New England is seeking a detail-oriented paralegal to manage the Company's Tariff using specialized software, assist attorneys with regulatory tariff filings, and provide paralegal support through legal research and the tracking of energy industry matters.

You will receive hands-on training from the Company's current tariff coordinator and other experienced support staff. This role is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal who is eager to build expertise in the energy industry, applies exceptional attention to detail, enjoys process-driven work, and is interested in developing spreadsheets and tracking tools while expanding their legal research skills. It may also be a strong fit for an administrative professional or analyst with an understanding of the energy industry and FERC-regulated tariffs who is ready to broaden their responsibilities and grow into a specialized legal support role.

How you will make an impact:
  • Learn the ins and outs of the tariff administration process, including how to make and track updates to the tariff using tariff administration software and working with the attorneys who are responsible for the development of tariff updates. This work requires significant attention to detail and provides the opportunity to assist with the development of new tariff tracking systems.
  • Manage the software-based process for submitting filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and, as necessary, other administrative and judicial agencies, working closely with attorneys and other support staff to collect and proof required filing documents, submit the filings using appropriate software and online tools, and ensure required publication and distribution of filings.
  • Assist with legal research regarding the Company's tariff and related legal issues, working with the attorneys to understand the issues and complete research using various software and online tools, as well as your growing knowledge of the tariff.

What we are looking for
  • Paralegal with one (1) or more years of experience working for a law firm, governmental agency or corporate legal department, or experienced administrative professional or analyst seeking to utilize existing and develop new skills in areas of tariff administration, energy law, research, and tracking, word processing and research
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel; comfortable using online project tracking tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and proofing
  • A proactive, can-do attitude about new tasks and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and energy/regulatory practice is a plus

The expected salary range for this position is $33.65 - $45.67 per hour. ISO New England Inc. is an independent, non-profit Regional Transmission Organization, headquartered in Holyoke, Massachusetts, serving Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. ISO-NE oversees the operation of New England's bulk electric power system and transmission lines, generated and transmitted by its member utilities, as well as Hydro-Québec, NB Power, the New York Power Authority and utilities in New York state, when the need arises. ISO-NE was created in 1997 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, as a replacement for the New England Power Pool, which was created in 1971. The ISO-NE grid does not extend to remote parts of eastern and northern Maine in Washington and Aroostook Counties. In these areas, residents receive their electricity from Canadian providers such as NB Power and Hydro-Québec.
