Join our Revenue Management Team as a Legal Billing Specialist in our Washington D.C. Office

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous professional who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. As a Legal Billing Specialist, you will provide end-to-end invoice preparation while ensuring efficiency and accuracy in every task. This role will be based in our Washington D.C. office. This position reports to the Billing Manager. The candidate must be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Position Summary

The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for the full life cycle of the invoice preparation process while ensuring that all invoices are accurate, compliant with client requirements, and submitted in a timely manner. This role demands strong analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with attorneys, clients, and administrative staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Edit Prebills via Prebill Viewer and Aderant based on the request from the Billing Attorneys.

  • Generate a high volume of complex client invoices via Aderant.

  • Ensure that all invoices are compliant with the billing guidelines and that all required supporting documentation is compiled prior to submission.

  • Submit ebills via EHub, including all supporting documentation.

  • Monitor and immediately address any invoice rejections, reductions, and those needing appeals.

  • Respond to billing inquiries.

  • Undertakes special projects and ad hoc reports as needed and/or requested.

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Legal Billerrequired.

Technology

  • Aderant or Elite/3E preferred, Prebill Viewer,E-billing Hub, Bill Blast.

  • Proficiency in Excel required.

  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environment.

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directed.

  • Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovation.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move from workstation or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with a team to meet with colleagues or supervisor and retrieve work assignments.

  • This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Requires manual dexterity to use a phone, enter data into a computer, handle objects, and use office equipment.

The expected pay range for this position is:

$40.46 - $45.85 per hour

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary programs include:  voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance.  Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
