What to expect:The HR Business Partner-Leave and Accommodation Management is a high-visibility role responsible for designing and standing up a centralized Leave of Absence (LOA) and Accommodation function at United Ground Express (UGE). This role will build the strategy and process to centralize these functions into a single, scalable Center of Excellence (COE) that ensures compliance, consistency, and strong employee experience. The ideal candidate is equal parts builder and expert practitioner. We are looking for someone with deep knowledge of FMLA, ADA, state/local leave laws, and workers' compensation interplay, and who has also led or significantly contributed to standing up or transforming a centralized leave/accommodation function from the ground up.
How you will make an impact:Leave of Absence Administration
- Design and help implement a centralized model for leave of absence and accommodation administration.
- Partner with a Project Manager to develop end-to-end process maps, workflows, SOPs for all applicable leave types.
- Process and administer employee leave requests in accordance with FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, and company policies.
- Serve as a primary contact for employees and managers regarding leave status, eligibility, and documentation requirements.
- Generate and send required notices, forms, and correspondence accurately and timely.
- Coordinate with payroll, benefits, and HR teams to ensure accurate pay and benefit continuation during leave periods.
- Track leave balances, return-to-work dates, and required certifications in the leave management system.
- Support the ADA interactive process by scheduling meetings, documenting discussions, and tracking deadlines for follow-up meetings, accommodations and reevaluation.
- Maintain confidential employee leave files and ensure compliance with all recordkeeping requirements.
- Identify when complex cases, unclear documentation, or disputed accommodation requests should be escalated.
- Help define and track key metrics (i.e.- case cycle time, return-to-work rates, compliance, employee satisfaction, etc.)
What you will bring:Required Experience, Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5-8 years of HR experience, with significant depth in leave of absence and accommodation administration.
- Strong working knowledge of employment law as it relates to leave and disability/accommodations (FMLA, ADA and applicable state and local leave regulations required.
- Demonstrated experience building, redesigning, or centralizing an HR function or shared-services model.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
