Job Description:

Caterpillar's Global Finance Services Division (GFSD) is seeking a Category Buyer to support the Global Learning & Development (L&D) Category. In this role, you will partner with business stakeholders around the world to develop and execute sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive value across the Learning & Development portfolio.

You will play a key role in shaping category strategy, managing supplier performance, identifying cost savings opportunities, and ensuring internal customers receive high-quality services that support business objectives.

What You Will Do:
  • Develop and execute global sourcing and category strategies for Learning & Development services
  • Manage supplier relationships, performance, risk, and commercial negotiations across the category portfolio
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, contract negotiations, and spend optimization
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute procurement agreements, including:
    • Master Services Agreements (MSAs)
    • Statements of Work (SOWs)
    • Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
    • Other procurement-related contracts
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver sourcing solutions that support organizational goals
  • Monitor category spend, identify savings opportunities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support supplier onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing supplier development activities
  • Mentor and support other procurement professionals while promoting strong business ethics and professionalism


What You Have:

Category Management & Sourcing
  • Experience developing and executing sourcing strategies and supplier management programs
  • Knowledge of procurement, category management, supplier negotiations, and contract administration
  • Ability to manage supplier performance, risk, and commercial relationships

Business Partnership & Communication
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience building consensus and managing cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment

Analytical & Problem Solving
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to leverage spend data and market insights to support business decisions

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of progressively responsible professional experience


What Will Set You Apart:
  • Experience supporting Learning & Development, consulting, professional services, or indirect procurement categories
  • Experience in procurement, logistics, business management, or information technology environments
  • Professional certifications in Purchasing, Supply Management, or related disciplines
  • Strong negotiation and contract management experience
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with:
    • GEP SMART
    • Salesforce
    • Finance and accounting concepts

  • Relocation: Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify
  • Travel: Limited travel required


Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
