Full Job Description
National Grid is hiring a Lead Data Analyst for our Customer organization supporting Kraken, in either our Syracuse NY, Brooklyn NY, or Northboro MA offices. This role will be a fully in office role for the first 6 months where it will transition into a hybrid role with 3-4 days in office. Job Purpose At National Grid, we are transforming how we serve customers, operate our business, and leverage data to drive outcomes. Reporting and analytics will play a critical role in shaping that transformation. We are seeking a highly strategic and intellectually curious Reporting & Analytics Lead to help build the analytics foundation for a rapidly evolving organization. This individual will partner closely with leaders across the Customer organization to define how success is measured, develop meaningful performance insights, and influence critical business decisions. This is more than a reporting role. The successful candidate will help design the future-state analytics capability, establish performance measurement frameworks, uncover opportunities hidden within complex data, and provide the insights needed to drive operational excellence and organizational transformation. The ideal candidate combines advanced analytical expertise with strong business acumen, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence decisions through compelling data storytelling. Key Accountabilities Transformation Focus - Within the first 12-18 months, the successful candidate will: - Build scalable reporting and analytics capabilities that support the evolving operating model. - Establish meaningful KPIs and performance frameworks that provide leaders with actionable business insights. - Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, operational performance, efficiency, and business outcomes through data-driven recommendations. - Develop trusted relationships with leadership teams and become a go-to advisor for business performance insights. - Transform reporting from retrospective scorekeeping into proactive decision support. - Drive increased automation, self-service analytics, and data accessibility across the organization. Reporting Strategy & Capability Development - Lead the development of a modern reporting and analytics strategy that enables data-driven decision making across the organization. - Establish KPI hierarchies and executive scorecards that align operational activity to business outcomes. - Design scalable analytics solutions that support both current operational needs and future transformation priorities. - Challenge existing reporting methodologies and recommend innovative approaches that improve visibility, accountability, and decision velocity. - Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and modernize reporting processes while improving data quality and consistency. Analysis, Insights & Decision Support - Move beyond descriptive reporting to identify root causes, predict emerging trends, and recommend actions that improve business performance. - Conduct exploratory analysis to uncover opportunities, risks, and operational inefficiencies not readily visible through standard reporting. - Use advanced analytics techniques to evaluate business scenarios, forecast outcomes, and support strategic decision making. - Serve as a thought partner to leadership teams by providing objective, data-driven perspectives on key business challenges. Operational Delivery, Governance & Compliance - Establish trusted and scalable reporting governance practices that balance agility, accuracy, and business value. - Lead efforts to improve data quality, accessibility, and reliability across reporting ecosystems. - Drive adoption of best practices in analytics, measurement, and performance reporting. - Promote self-service analytics capabilities that empower leaders and teams to make informed decisions more quickly. Stakeholder Management & Professional Expertise - Act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, influencing decisions through meaningful insights, business acumen, and analytical rigor. - Build strong cross-functional relationships that enable collaboration, knowledge sharing, and effective decision-making. - Challenge assumptions and conventional thinking using evidence-based recommendations. - Present complex analytical findings and business implications to leadership audiences in a clear, compelling, and actionable way. - Facilitate discussions that drive alignment around performance, priorities, and business outcomes. - Maintain expertise in analytics, reporting tools, data management, and industry trends to identify opportunities and apply best practices. - Leverage internal and external networks to share knowledge, bring diverse perspectives, and continuously improve reporting and analytics capabilities. #LI-SA1 Qualifications Required - 5+ years of experience in reporting, analytics, business intelligence, performance management, data strategy, or related disciplines. - Demonstrated experience building reporting and analytics capabilities in a complex operational environment. - Advanced proficiency with Power BI, SQL, Excel, relational databases, and data visualization techniques. Preferred - Experience supporting large-scale business transformation, digital transformation, or operational modernization initiatives. - Experience with Alteryx, Snowflake, Databricks, Power Platform, or similar modern analytics technologies. - Experience in customer operations, utility operations, energy, digital customer experience, or service organizations. - Experience implementing self-service analytics and reporting capabilities. - Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Business, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline. More Information Salary MA: $127,000 - $149,000 a year DNY: $136,000 - $160,000 a year UNY: $114,000 - $133,000 a year.
