What You'll DoLitigation Leadership- Lead and mentor a team of Staff Counsel, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
- Partner with Claims leadership to align litigation strategy, case evaluation, and settlement practices
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex and high-exposure matters
Portfolio Oversight- Monitor litigation performance, exposure trends, and case progression across the team's portfolio
- Conduct file reviews and provide strategic direction on discovery, mediation, and trial readiness
- Coordinate with Trial Counsel to ensure matters are appropriately prepared for trial
Collaboration & Risk Management- Provide timely legal guidance and recommendations to Claims and business partners
- Identify litigation risks and recommend strategies to support favorable outcomes
- Promote compliance with court requirements, ethical obligations, and company litigation standards
What You Bring- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and active Florida Bar membership in good standing
- 8+ years of litigation experience, including significant insurance litigation and 5+ years handling Florida first-party property claims
- 2+ years of leadership experience with a proven track record of mentoring and developing attorneys
- Strong knowledge of Florida insurance law, civil procedure, evidence rules, and professional responsibility standards
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex litigation, evaluate risk, negotiate effectively, and guide legal strategy
- Trial experience, including jury trial participation; second-chair trial experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
