Full Job Description
GEICO is seeking a Staff Counsel Procedural Reviewer to join our Staff Counsel team. Job duties include conducting audits of Staff Counsel files to ensure quality file handling and reviewing office practices to ensure they are in accordance with departmental procedures, standards, and best practices.

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts audits of Staff Counsel files to measure and ensure quality case handling, reporting and compliance with Staff Counsel policies and procedures.
  • PROVIDES post-audit feedback to management on cases that may need immediate attention, and any violations of Staff Counsel policies and procedures discovered during the audit.
  • ACTS as an objective source of independent recommendations to senior management and effectively COMMUNICATES findings and recommendations including the identity of loopholes, gaps in policy, and irregularities related to reporting requirements.
  • PREPARES and PRESENTS reports on audit trends to members of senior management and Staff Counsel Managers and MAKES recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the audit process.
  • ASSISTS in developing best practices and RECOMMENDS improvements to existing policies and procedures.
  • ADHERES to the GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies and operating principles.
  • MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.

Requirements
  • Must be able to travel to staff counsel offices across the country and be able to travel at least 25% of the time.
  • Must be able, with or without accommodation, to perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to, thinking (concentrating, focusing, assimilating information), reading, writing, listening, typing, speaking, bending, reaching, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and a mouse.
  • Must be able to access and utilize multiple pieces of office equipment that may require simultaneous use.
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and written correspondence/email.
  • Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization.
  • Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
  • Must demonstrate successful performance in handling primary responsibility for cases of significant severity and complexity. Must have the following education and experience:
    • Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions and meet and maintain licensing requirements including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
    • Must have a minimum of seven years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.

Annual Salary
$118,900.00 - $185,525.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
