As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking Administration - Becoming A Customer Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

We operate at scale and deliver cohesive, end-to-end acquisition and origination experiences across channels (web and mobile). By working collaboratively across Product, Technology, Design, and Data & Analytics, we build personalized, integrated journeys that make it easy for customers to become established Chase customers—wherever they are and however they choose

Job responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and troubleshoot full-stack software solutions, applying creative approaches to solve complex technical problems
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Build and maintain secure, high-quality production code across frontend and backend; review, debug, and provide technical guidance on code written by others
  • Lead system and application design for complex initiatives; produce and maintain architecture/design artifacts and ensure alignment through the SDLC
  • Develop and operate scalable APIs and services, and build responsive, accessible user experiences that meet performance and usability standards
  • Drive improvements in resiliency, availability, performance, and operability, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventative engineering
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate recurring issues through automation, standardization, improved testing, and better engineering practices
  • Improve developer productivity and delivery outcomes by evolving CI/CD practices, automated quality controls, and release processes
  • Lead and contribute to engineering communities of practice to promote adoption of modern technologies and best practices
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience delivering production systems, including both frontend and backend development
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and experience building and operating web applications, APIs, and services
  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in production environments
  • Proficiency in modern web development concepts (component-based UI, API integration, performance optimization) and backend engineering fundamentals
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods and a strong understanding of Agile delivery practices
  • Proficient in all aspects of the SDLC, including secure development practices
  • Strong understanding of engineering disciplines such as application resiliency, reliability, and security
  • Strong communication skills and ability to drive outcomes with cross-functional teams
 
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Practical cloud-native experience and familiarity with containerized and distributed system patterns
  • Experience with observability practices (metrics, logging, tracing) and production readiness
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across teams
  • Domain knowledge in financial services and enterprise technology environments
  • Experience in applying AI/ML capabilities to software products
