Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The RBC Futures Clearing Technology team is seeking a Lead Software Developer to support applications for Capital Markets client clearing business and associated functional groups globally.
In this role you will be responsible for the design and development of solutions for key RBC initiatives.
The role is responsible to partner across IT and Business to assess, research, and analyze business, technical and system needs, to lead software development activities, to implement technical solutions that meet Business requirements.
What will you do?Participate in the technical design, development, and implementation of application systems. Applies complete knowledge, skills, and practices to perform assignments.
- Organize and participate in walkthrough reviews of all technical specifications, programs, and unit test plans
- Review issues and requirements from business partners
- Designs software systems based on business requirements
- Develops, codes, documents programs of average to high complexity using different languages such as SQL, Python, Java, C#, Java script, Windows scripting
- Contributes to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies
- Troubleshooting Ability to determine root cause and resolve for incidents and Project issues
- Manages all aspects of testing and verification ensuring all tasks are performed for all activities.
- Mentor junior staff on various software development tasks
- Ensures adequate technical documentation and training material
- Delivering new design and development specifications based on customer requirements, while adhering to standard procedures and techniques
- Creating test transactions and running tests to find errors and revise application programs
- Participating in post-implementation reviews of application development content and processes; continually working to create a learning environment by sharing about the participation process with others
- Implementing of new application programs
- Supporting application programs, fixing any existing or new bugs.
What do you need to succeed: :
Financial Market Knowledge- Undergraduate degree coupled with at least 10 in financial technologies development
- Understanding of clearing business
- Knowledge of trading workflows, risk management, and back office operations.
- Experience with Trading application platform (Front and Back-office).
- A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry.
- Strong SQL, windows and Java, Python skills
- Strong web development with focus on Java Script, React Js
- Strong communication and problem solving
- Strong agile development, scrum and kanban
- Strong teamwork abilities
- Participating in post-implementation reviews of application development content and processes; continually working to create a learning environment by sharing about the participation process with other.
Nice-to-have- Expertise of IT Systems and environments, in particular ION XTP Clear and XTP Core, trading or clearing systems
- Exposure to DevOps automation tools (example: Helios, UrbanCodeDeploy, GitHub)
- Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.
- Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers
