Lead Software Engineer
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA (Onsite)

Position Overview
Booker DiMaio is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to support a mission-critical Federal Intelligence Community program. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, high-performance software applications that support advanced technical operations within a highly classified environment.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience developing enterprise applications using technologies such as Python, Java, C++, and JavaScript, building analysis tools, integrating complex systems, and leading software development initiatives. This individual will contribute to software architecture, help drive the technical roadmap, and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams while mentoring junior developers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable software applications supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Develop analysis tools and implement signal-processing algorithms to support advanced technical capabilities.
  • Integrate custom software solutions with existing government systems and enterprise platforms.
  • Contribute to software architecture, technical design, and long-term technology planning.
  • Manage the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from design through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and secure code while leading code reviews and promoting software development best practices.
  • Collaborate with front-end, back-end, and data engineering teams to deliver integrated software solutions.
  • Optimize application performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience serving in a technical leadership role, leading software development efforts, or mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong experience developing applications using Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
  • Experience using Git for source code management and version control.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization technologies.
  • Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development principles and secure coding practices.
  • Experience developing applications for secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense programs.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
