Description

This position allows for a hybrid arrangement with a mix of work from home and in the office.

 

As a Project Engineer, you will be assigned to work on one or more project teams and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work. The project teams may include resources from multiple Sargent & Lundy offices and projects may involve the design of new and/or modifications and upgrades to existing facilities, structures, systems, and components. This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your skills in design, engineering, project and client management.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Close coordination with and management of client interfaces
  • Resource planning, coordination of resources, and assistance with integration of project participants
  • Management of technical work, tracking, management, and reporting of project budget and schedule progress, both internally to S&L as well as to clients
Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

 

Essential skills and experience: 

  • Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
  • BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program; MS degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering
  • Experience in engineering design, with a working knowledge of design drawing, calculations, and specifications
  • Working knowledge of processes and procedures for planning, scheduling, budgeting, and tracking engineering design projects; Sargent & Lundy's processes are based on the principles and practices of the Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Working knowledge of operations in facilities involving hazardous operations such as DOE nuclear facilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills along with strong PC skills are required

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • PE License (If no PE License, the successful candidate may be highly encouraged to obtain one)
  • Expertise in software tools such as Excel, Primavera/P6, Microsoft Project, and other Microsoft Office software tools, is highly desirable
  • An understanding of the practical application of engineering and technology, including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
  • Construction planning, oversight, and safety, especially in a highly regulated environment like a DOE national laboratory, is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with NQA-1 Quality Assurance programs and procedures

Compensation Range$118,023 - $180,313 Transparency StatementSargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations.
