Summary:
DMC is currently looking for a Lead Project Controls Specialist to join our team on a contract basis, based in Sudbury, Ontario. The Lead Project Controls Specialist monitors, controls and reports the progress of the project ensuring the effectiveness and appropriate integration of cost control, scheduling, progressing, change management and estimating on the project. This position will interface with all departments across the engineering, procurement, and construction of the project.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for cost management; development and implementation of cost control systems for engineering activities, cost reporting, cost variance analysis, trending, forecasting and cash flows.
• Leads team of project control specialists (controllers, planners, schedulers, estimators).
• Ensures forecasts are prepared and integrated according to project and DMC requirements.
• Ensures effective cost assessment and analysis is performed and reported.
• Ensures that suitable procedures and systems for project planning and scheduling are followed.
• Ensures accuracy in the reporting of progress and productivity.
• Ensures the accurate, complete, and auditable invoices (progress certificates) are generated and submitted to the client.
• Ensures that all cost data is appropriately managed, accessible, and auditable.
• Controls, analyzes and processes change to scope, cost, and schedule on the project.
• Promotes the communication of change occurring at site and head office engineering and schedules change meetings appropriately.
• Creates and issues client and internal status reports that effectively communicate cost status and trends. Responsible for implementing corrective actions.
• Executes proper controls to proactively support, monitor, and communicate, budget, progress, productivity, resourcing, and schedule.
• Evaluates and maintains historical information.
• Interacts with engineering, procurement, and construction personnel to understand and communicate issues and conflicts that impact the schedule and/or cost.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of project controls experience including planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and estimating.
• Must have experience supporting construction projects.
• Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management projects would be an asset.
• MS Word / Excel and P6 software proficiency required.
• Experience doing cost loaded schedules and earned value progress.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Strong attention to detail.
• PMP Certification is an asset.
Additional Information:
• We are hiring to fill an existing vacancy.
• Salary Range is expected to be between: $120,000 to 150,000 CAD (including hourly incentive bonus).
