PURPOSEThe
Lead Process Engineer provides technical leadership and project delivery oversight for process engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong team leadership, coordination across disciplines, and accountability for quality, schedule, and budget performance on assigned projects.
RESPONSIBILITIESProject & Technical Leadership- Lead process engineering scope on assigned projects, ensuring deliverables meet Worley, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Own the process engineering scope, schedule, and quality for assigned projects or project areas.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout all project phases including feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure project scope is clearly defined and manage changes in accordance with project change management procedures.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, and client engagements.
- Provide technical input during procurement, including requisitions, bid evaluations, and purchase order technical reviews.
- Proactively identify technical risks and execution challenges, developing practical solutions in collaboration with the project team.
Team Leadership & Coordination- Lead, coordinate, and mentor process engineers and designers assigned to projects.
- Define work packages, allocate resources, and manage workload distribution across the team, including promoting workshare where appropriate.
- Provide coaching, technical oversight, and performance feedback to team members.
- Support the professional development of junior and intermediate process engineers through mentoring and technical guidance.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment focused on safety, quality, and delivery excellence.
Quality, Safety & Compliance- Ensure all process engineering deliverables comply with Worley standards, client specifications, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with project quality management and checking procedures.
- Promote and uphold Worley's safety culture and values across all project activities.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement- Act as a key technical interface with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley and client requirements.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of scope, priorities, and execution strategies.
Continuous Improvement & Technical Excellence- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, best practices, and innovations in gas processing and process engineering.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, workflows, and execution methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS Technical & Industry Experience - Strong technical expertise and subject matter knowledge in Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) or similar process
- Proven ability to lead process engineering scope on complex projects within multidisciplinary environments.
- Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals and working knowledge of adjacent engineering disciplines.
- Solid understanding of applicable local and international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Competent in the use of MS Office Suite and process engineering software tools.
- Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality technical work under schedule and budget constraints.
Leadership & Professional Skills - Demonstrated team leadership and coordination experience within project environments.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance technical rigor with practical execution and delivery-focused decision-making.
- Previous supervisory or technical lead experience preferred.
Education, Qualifications, Accreditation, Training - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (or eligibility/active pursuit, depending on internal requirements).
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $151,687 to $205,223
