Our team is seeking an energetic and responsive Lead Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer for our multidisciplinary Process Infrastructure and Design team based in Phoenix, Arizona, Salt Lake City, Utah or Texas on a full-time basis. The team you will join will offer interesting diversity of global clients and projects in Environmental Infrastructure facilities, Oil & Gas, surface and underground mine infrastructure including dewatering, material handling, fuel and lube, maintenance shops, and pumping stations, industrial facilities, water and waste water industries, landfills and contaminated soil sites.

Location: Depending on candidate preference, this individual can work in our Phoenix AZ, or Salt Lake City, UT, Houston, TX, Dallas, TX or Austin, TX offices.

Your Impact
  • Development a variety of I&C design documents such as: design drawings, technical specifications and design basis calculations with a high level of competence and minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrate clear and prompt communication and foster leadership
  • Work independently and collaborate in cross-discipline team to meet project goals.
  • Compliance with Codes and Standards, governing regulations, industry practices, and internal procedures.
  • Develop and perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and technical specifications.
  • Mentor junior team members in technical excellence and career growth.
  • Review of instrument and control systems vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers/designers.
  • Participate in the development and design review of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Prepare and review control deliverables such as Control Narratives, Cause and Effect diagrams, System Architecture Diagrams, Instrument Location Layouts, Installation Details, Wiring & Interconnection Diagrams, PLC Layouts, and Loop Drawings.
  • Prepare and review instrument datasheets, I/O lists, instrument index, instrument selection, hazardous area classification
  • Provide configuration of and develop programming for controls equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, DCS Systems, SCADA, etc.
  • Participate in client and project review meetings.
  • Prepare technical bid evaluation and attend FAT.
  • Collaboration with project management/engineering discipline to develop project budgets, schedule, prepare scoping documents, design criteria and list of project deliverables.
  • Promote engineering professionalism and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from ABET accredited program.
  • 7 - 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Instrumentation Engineering is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable design standards governing corresponding design work, such as API, NFPA, ISA, PIP, IEC, IEEE, ISO, NACE, NESC.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and people management skills.
  • Proficient in SPI (Intools), AutoCAD, and other instrumentation design tools.
  • Strong understanding of control systems (PLC, DCS) and industrial networking protocols.
  • Demonstrate advanced ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
  • A team player attitude and be able to work with multiple projects.
  • Must pass background check.

Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to secure this registration within twelve (12) months of hire is a plus
  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from ABET accredited program
  • An up-to-date NCEES record
  • Design-Build project execution experience
  • Lead the design and specification of field instrumentation, control valves, and analyzers for oil & gas, mining, heavy industries, water industries and process facilities.
    AutoCAD, Revit, and other design program competence
