Role Overview

We are seeking an experiencedLead Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee supplier quality assurance activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all supplied materials and components meet our organization's quality standards, while fostering strong relationships with suppliers.

What You'll Do...

  • Develop and implement supplier quality standards and processes specific to aerospace propulsion systems
  • Evaluate and approve suppliers through on-site audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and Nadcap
  • Establish quality agreements with suppliers to define expectations, requirements, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitor supplier performance using metrics such as defect rates, on time delivery, and adherence to specifications
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes to resolve supplier-related quality issues
  • Work with suppliers to implement preventive measures and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee the qualification of propulsion components, including machined parts, raw materials and outside service providers
  • Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by ensuring supplier readiness and validating first article inspections (FAI)
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure supplier capabilities align with design and manufacturing requirements
  • Ensure supplier compliance with aerospace propulsion standards, such as AS9102 for FAI, Nadcap for special processes, and other relevant specifications
  • Maintain thorough documentation of supplier audits, quality reports, and corrective action plans
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory inspections
  • Work closely with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier-related challenges
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to enhance their processes and capabilities

You have...

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering (or a related field)
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or propulsion industry
  • Strong understanding of aerospace propulsion systems and components
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100, Nadcap, and AS9102
  • Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis, FMEA, and SPC
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issues security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have...

  • Experience with special processes such as heat treatment, welding, and coatings
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt)
  • Proficiency in quality management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Minitab)

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 base salary. Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
