Could you be the full-time Lead Design Engineer in New Castle, DE we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You'll report to NGHST Project Engineering Manager, and work alongside exceptional, enthusiastic and collaborative teammates. You'll be creating great value as you use your engineering skills to maximize engineering development of component repairability and testability for next generation high speed rail transportation projects. You'll specifically take care of failure analysis, test bench development, and make vs buy analysis.

We'll look to you for:
  • Manage testability and repairability for components on NGHST and Legacy Acela.
  • Develop test procedures and specify bench test equipment
  • Manage cost by performing make vs by analysis
  • Perform failure analysis for components under repair.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent) with strong electrical background
  • Familiar with component design and redesign, obsolescence, and risk management across a broad set of systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, ideally including PCB design/exposure (mandatory)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in engineering related field - system engineering.
  • Experience in at least one of the following specialized areas within rail, transportation, or related heavy industry: hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electronics/electrical hardware, railway door systems, railway signaling systems, railway HVAC, or railway mechanical systems.
  • Experience working 'hands on' with railway equipment (ideally in the environment of Rolling Stock warranty and reliability growth) is desired.
  • Knowledge of railway systems is desired.
  • Utilize your skills in strategic system thinking
  • Leadership or team lead experience, with the ability to mentor and build a team
  • Self-starter who can independently own projects with minimal day-to-day oversight

Location and Travel
  • On-site position based in New Castle, DE (Alstom East Coast Distribution Facility), some remote work flexibility.
  • Average travel: up to 20% of time.
