Full Job Description
At Collective Health, we're transforming how employers and their people engage with their health benefits by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology, compassionate service, and world-class user experience design.

The Analytics team is a data-driven team focused on unlocking insights that improve member outcomes and drive business performance. Our team sits at the intersection of data, strategy, and execution. The Analytics team reports directly to the Vice President, Data Engineering, Analytics, and AI in Product Development.

In this role, you will lead complex data analyses to support clinical, operational, and financial decisions, and play a key role in developing data products that shape strategic direction. You will collaborate across departments, mentor junior analysts, and work directly with business stakeholders. If you're passionate about using data to make a meaningful impact in healthcare, you'll find a home here.

As a Lead BI Developer, you'll lead the technical strategy and execution for the modeling layer of our reporting platform. You will work hands-on to design, build, and optimize KPI driven scalable reporting architecture, while also setting technical direction and mentoring junior engineers as an individual contributor. This is a key technical leadership role-not a people management role-that will shape how we transform raw data into clean, analytics-ready datasets. You'll report to the Director of Analytics and work closely with peers across Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Product, Operations & Insights to deliver data solutions that matter.
What you'll do:
  • Business Intelligence Solutions: Collaborate with the BI team to design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions using tools like Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Data Visualization: Create interactive and user-friendly reports and dashboards to present data-driven insights to stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Data Modeling: Creating and optimizing data models to support efficient data analysis and reporting.
  • SQL Knowledge: Write efficient SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from various databases/data sources, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Data Landscape: Build a comprehensive understanding of data sources utilized for reporting, and actively identify areas of improvement in existing reporting processes, contributing innovative solutions to address identified gaps
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their analytical needs and provide data-driven solutions to support their decision-making processes.
  • Representation in Technical and Non-Technical Forums: Act as a liaison between the Data Analytics team and other departments, effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
  • Report/Data Maintenance: Regularly audit existing data pipelines and reports to reflect changes in data and business KPI.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to data quality, data pipelines, report accuracy, and performance.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in business intelligence and data analytics.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation for developed BI solutions, including data models and report specifications.
  • Additional project work as assigned
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Proven experience (8+ years) as a Business Intelligence Developer or in a similar role.
  • Excellent in data analysis / visualization tools (i.e., Looker, LookML, Tableau, Power BI, Presto SQL) to develop front-end reports to meet the needs of end-users in a user-friendly way
  • Deep understanding of data architecture, schema design, and dimensional modeling for analytics and machine learning.
  • Very strong SQL skills and ability to write efficient queries for data retrieval and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and automation.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data insights effectively.
  • Agility to navigate through ambiguity - comfortable with proposing new processes when gaps are present.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to confidently present to executive audiences, lead discussions, and distill complex information into clear concise communications
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Fluent in Microsoft and/or Google productivity software
