Full Job Description
MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Lead AWS Network Engineer to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This is a remote position supporting Bluewater Cloud for the United States Navy.

As the Lead AWS Network Engineer, you will be the backbone of our cloud connectivity. You won't just be managing subnets; you'll be designing, implementing, and securing the high-traffic arterial systems that power our global applications. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who is obsessed with latency reduction, high availability, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Build and maintain scalable AWS network architectures including VPCs, Transit Gateways, and other AWS service offerings
  • Implement and manage Network ACLs, Security Groups, AWS WAF, and AWS Network Firewall to protect against external threats
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu via robust CI/CD processes
  • Optimize traffic flow using DISA IODYN, Elastic Load Balancing (ALB/NLB)
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies as a member of a highly functioning Agile engineering team
  • Use VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch, and Traffic Mirroring to diagnose bottlenecks and resolve outages


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related STEM discipline and 12+ years of general IT experience, or an Associates degree and 14 years of general IT experience, or a High School Diploma and 16+ years of relevant general IT experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience in VPC peering, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, and Endpoints
  • Hands-on knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and IPsec
  • Must possess a DoD 8570 Computing Environment certification (ex. Sec+) and at minimum an associate-level AWS certification (ex. ASW CSAA)
  • Experience and knowledge of DoW network architecture and paradigms (ex. BCAP, NIPR, SIPR, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS Networking Specialty certification
  • Extensive networking experience working with the US Navy in particular
  • Experience automating cloud deployments/administration with tools like Terraform and/or Ansible
  • 2+ years of Terraform experience
  • Experience working with GitHub or similar system and Git to deploy infrastructure changes


Clearance Requirements:
  • US Citizenship required and an active Secret clearance


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations


The projected compensation range for this position is $137,100.00-$244,100.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
