This role can work remotely from anywhere in the continental USA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end solutions balancing functional, non-functional (scalability, security, resilience, performance), and maintainability requirements.
  • Lead architectural decisions across teams — establishing design patterns, reference architectures, and technical standards.
  • Develop architectural maturity models and strategic roadmaps to guide teams from concept through production, including deployment and rollback strategies.
  • Define integration strategies across platforms and third-party systems, ensuring interoperability.
  • Establish engineering quality standards through review frameworks, test strategies, and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Maintain architectural documentation (solution blueprints, ADRs, architecture diagrams) while mentoring engineers.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and UX to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps within agile methodologies.
  • Lead production incident response, driving root-cause analysis and systemic improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years in large-scale software development, with 3+ years in solution architecture or technical leadership.
  • Strong proficiency in Java with architectural experience using Spring, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs. 5+ years collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Engineering, UX).
  • Deep understanding of OOP, design patterns, distributed systems, concurrency control, and parallelism.
  • 2+ years hands-on with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) including cloud-native patterns.
  • Mastery of architectural decision-making — evaluating technology trade-offs and applying best practices.
  • Experience with AI assistant tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Node.js/NestJS, GraphQL (schema design, federation), and modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) including SSR/CSR.
  • Hands-on experience with auth frameworks (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT) and API security patterns. Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture (Kafka), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability tooling.
  • Knowledge of data architecture — relational/NoSQL databases, caching (Redis), and data modeling at scale.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Openness to leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance architectural solutions.
  • Pharmacy domain knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills; experience mentoring engineers and driving outcomes across teams.
