Launch Vehicle Systems Engineer with skills, background, and experience related to Launch Vehicle (LV) systems, systems engineering, project management, and software productivity tool use, to help the US Space Force redefine the future of the Space Access Directorate . This position is based out of
Los Angeles, CA .
This position will support the Space Systems Command Space Access Engineering Division and the launch services they procure .
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Provide comprehensive LV systems engineering expertise at our Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) customer site. Areas of expertise may include Systems, Propulsion, Avionics, Structural, Digital, Software, and Manufacturing Engineering, Mission Assurance, or Launch Operations.
- Assist in all aspects of Government acquisition processes, contract business support and contract analysis.
- Evaluate New Entrant Launch System Design and processes
- Develop New Entrant Certification Plans and support verification of require me nts throughout the phases of NSSL system certification
- General system engineering tasks for major Launch System requirements, interfaces, systems engineering processes
- Creation of major program documents, develop systems requirements system interface specifications, and establishing program baseline for legacy and future systems architecture systems. Provides configuration control, review, and comment and coordination of changes with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with The Aerospace Corporation (Aerospace), New Launch Contractors (LCs), launch site personnel, and production and supplier personnel, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree , or higher , in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical) or STEM field.
- 1 2 + years of systems engineering, technical program management, or other related experience .
- 3+ years of Space Access Directorate (formerly known as Assured Access to Space) , Launch/Range, Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), or industry equivalent launch , space systems , or project engineering experience.
- Knowledge and experience with L V systems ( e.g., solid rockets motors, liquid propellant rocket engines and systems, ordnance, hydraulics, in-flight avionics, LV ground support equipment, LV structures, composite materials) .
- Experience with LV design, processing, integration, testing, launch and anomaly resolution.
- Experience in assessing requirements, design drawings, processes, procedures of engineering systems , perform risk assessments and mitigation planning , design reviews, pre- and post-test reviews, procedure reviews, failure analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with space, launch, and LV system standards.
- Background with USSF, NASA, N ational Reconnaissance Office (NRO) , and Launch Contractor's ( L C s ) preferred.
- Previous project management experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with agile software products, such as Warp Core, Jira, Confluence, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Google Workspace, and Information Technology systems is preferred.
Clearance Requirements: - Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance, however it is not required to start.
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 %.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
The projected compensation range for this position is $116,400.00-$194,900.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
