Full Job Description
Hexcel is currently seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Fibers location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
  • Directly supervise, train, and assign work to laboratory technicians.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and hold employees accountable for any violations. Work to address concerns and resolve problems within and across teams.
  • Effectively communicate with cross functional teams on updates to production schedules, equipment status, and staffing and follow escalation procedures as needed.
  • Lead and develop employees and recognize efforts to establish an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Meet production, safety, and quality goals and hold your teams accountable to specified metrics.
  • Actively participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions regarding instrument issues and failure analysis.
  • Support safety programs by performing job hazard analysis, participating in monthly safety meetings and pre-shift safety meetings, and leading accident investigations.
  • Ensure on time deliver through the lab by focusing on efficiencies, defect reduction, cross training, and expediting/prioritizing work.
  • Assess new hires and transfers during their onboarding process to ensure they are receiving support through adequate training and the development of necessary skills and experience.
  • Use timekeeping system to approve timecards and manage attendance.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree in science or technical field preferred.
  • 3+ years of prior laboratory experience (chemical or physical test labs), 1+ years of prior calibration certification or experience, familiarity with ASTM and ISO test methods strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; LIMS experience preferred.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and basic math skills.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong communication skills. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement techniques; Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • AS9100/NADCAP and customer audit experience preferred.
