Job Description

The Laboratory IT Specialist at Hologic Oncology will serve on a team which is a critical bridge between corporate IT and laboratory leadership, ensuring seamless communication and effective management of business requirements within our CLIA-certified laboratory. This full-time, on-site role in San Diego, CA, is responsible for supporting the Laboratory IT Lead in assessing laboratory operational needs, developing detailed business requirements, and the functional validation and implementation of technical solutions to support laboratory workflows and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business analysis, laboratory operations, technical workflows and regulatory compliance, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the gathering and documentation of detailed business and technical requirements for laboratory projects.
  • Develop verification and validation protocols for IT systems within the laboratory.
  • Manage projects, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met while adhering to budgetary and regulatory requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting of laboratory systems to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide end-user training and support to laboratory staff on IT systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and improve data integrity, security, and reporting capabilities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in laboratory systems.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT systems management in a healthcare setting required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a CLIA-regulated laboratory setting required.
  • Proven track record in requirement gathering, IT project management, and laboratory systems validation
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong functional understanding of LIS platforms and workflows.
    • Proficiency in business analysis methodologies and tools.
    • Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $93,700 to $146,600 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs, and market demand.
