Full Job Description
This position is responsible for hands-on lab setup, maintenance, and execution of testing activities for connected industrial devices and systems. The role supports hardware and cloud-connected solutions, ensuring reliable operation, test readiness, and remote accessibility for distributed engineering teams. Location: Wood Dale, IL - this is a fully on-site role (not eligible for remote or work-from-home arrangements). In this role, a typical day will look like: Lab Setup & Testing • Set up, configure, and maintain lab environments including industrial printers and connected devices. • Perform hands-on testing of hardware, firmware, and system-level features. • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, networks, and test infrastructure. • Execute regression, feature, and system validation testing. • Document test results, issues, and observations clearly and accurately. • Assist engineering teams in reproducing defects and validating fixes. • Ensure lab environments reflect real-world deployment scenarios. • Manage device configurations, firmware versions, and test data sets. • Coordinate lab scheduling, equipment usage, and readiness. Lab Infrastructure & Remote Enablement • Support remote access to lab systems for globally distributed teams (VPN, remote desktop, network routing, etc.). • Set up and maintain secure remote access capabilities to lab systems. • Support multi-user access for development, QA, and support teams. • Troubleshoot connectivity, performance, and access issues. • Ensure lab systems are consistently available and reliable for remote testing. Critical Success Factors • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a hands-on lab environment. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. • Demonstrated ability to document and communicate technical findings clearly. • Collaborative mindset to support globally distributed engineering teams. • Ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of Videojet's connected products and systems. The essential requirements of the job include: • Must be based in Wood Dale, IL and able to work on-site (this role is not eligible for remote or work-from-home arrangements). • Associate's degree or technical certification in engineering, electronics, or related field (or equivalent, demonstrable skills learned on the job). • Hands-on experience working with hardware devices and lab environments. • Basic knowledge of networking (IP addressing, routing, connectivity troubleshooting). • Experience with test execution and defect reporting. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, streamline troubleshooting, support test execution, and enhance documentation quality. Preferred Skills: • Experience working in an AWS environment. • Experience with industrial equipment. • Familiarity with remote access tools and lab virtualization. • Basic scripting (e.g., shell, python) or automation experience. • Understanding of cloud-connected systems or IoT environments. • Experience supporting distributed engineering teams. • Experience working in Linux. US ONLY: The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The compensation range for this role is $85000 - $95000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company's sole discretion, consistent with the law.
