Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Design section manager position.   The candidate will be responsible for functional management of staff as a Section Manager within the Test & Evaluation (T&E) Directorate.  The candidate will also be required to be a Design Engineer manager. The candidate will be responsible for functional management of Lab Infrastructure Design Engineers and provide technical oversight.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
The Lab Design Engineering Department is seeking a Section Manager to lead a team of Lab Infrastructure Electrical/Mechanical/System Test Design Engineers supporting a Program in Melbourne, FL. The successful candidate will help their section members understand our organization's vision and principles, build a culture that empowers and motivates individual excellence, and establish functional homeroom shared accountability for program performance. Section Manager responsibilities include working closely with the Lab Design Department Manager and fellow section managers to implement department initiatives, ensuring successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities, collaborating with programs to satisfy staffing needs and provide operations support (metrics collection and analysis, etc.), setting Talent + goals and providing regular performance feedback to employees, supporting the annual salary review and promotion process, mentoring and developing the next generation of technical and project leadership, and improving and enforcing test engineering processes and procedures.  The Lab Infrastructure Electrical /Mechanical/System Test Design Engineers supports the Laboratory Design Engineering Organization, will be an individual contributor as the RAA (Responsibility, Authority, and Accountability) for laboratory Electrical/Mechanical/System Test Designs in the areas of test asset design, integration, test support, and Configuration Management in the areas of formal execution testing. This position reports directly to the Lab Program Manager or assignment manager and manages planning, execution, and reporting activities for Laboratory Electrical/Mechanical Designs. The Design manager also coordinates the lower-level tasking associated with test resource utilization in support of system, subsystem / segment / system level development, integration, and testing. In addition, the Design manager is responsible for, detailed project and resource scheduling, asset procurement / management, SOW mapping and contract compliance, company policy adherence for lab design and discrepancy review support, and collection of metric and metrics reporting.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience
  • Active Secret clearance and your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Top Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Mission Systems and/or Mission Systems testing

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience working with Air Vehicle testing
  • Experience with flying test beds or early prototype testing
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Systems Test and or Flight Test certification
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (in-scope)
  • Active Program Access(es)
  • Lead or management experience in a team environment
  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering personnel on a Northrop Grumman Corporation program

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
