Full Job Description
The Knowledge Management ("KM") Lead is an emerging subject matter expert responsible for the administration, management, and continued evolution of technology solutions that support the practice and business of law at Sidley. Working with a high degree of independence, the KM Lead manages complex, cross-functional initiatives that enhance KM capabilities, improve efficiency, and support client service. The role partners with KM, IT, Data and AI, Learning & Development, Library and Research Services, Marketing, HR, Procurement, and legal practice teams to advance technology strategy, adoption, and best practices, while serving as a trusted resource to colleagues and promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing across the firm.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support KM leadership in developing and executing product roadmaps, strategic objectives, and operational priorities for relevant legal technologies.
  • Lead and contribute to complex, cross-functional technology projects and initiatives, including product evaluations, configurations, implementations, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Manage the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and user support of relevant legal technologies, coordinating with internal teams and vendors as appropriate.
  • Identify and implement improvements to KM processes, policies, governance documentation, workflows, and best practices to enhance efficiency, usability, and business impact.
  • Manage development, issue, and enhancement requests and coordinate release cycles to support timely delivery of functionality aligned with firm priorities.
  • Establish and maintain feedback mechanisms-including stakeholder interviews, pilot programs, product testing, usage data, and analytics-to assess technology performance, adoption, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and execute implementation, training, communication, and change-management strategies designed to maximize adoption and effective use of relevant legal technologies.
  • Develop and maintain user resources, including intranet content, quick-reference guides, training materials, and instructional videos.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for KM technologies and practices, providing guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders and promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration, and consistent best practices across the firm.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the firm's knowledge management strategy, operations, and objectives.


Education and/or Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in technology solutions, product or project management, knowledge management, business operations, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience managing or coordinating cross-functional technology projects, including project planning, stakeholder coordination, implementation, and delivery.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or initiatives with competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Experience using project or product management platforms to plan, track, document, and report on technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing written communications, documentation, presentations, or training materials for business and technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across multiple functions and organizational levels.


Preferred:
  • Two or more years of experience in a law firm, legal services organization, or other professional services environment.
  • Experience with legal technology or knowledge management platforms used by large law firms.
  • Experience managing technology projects through the full project lifecycle, from planning and requirements gathering through implementation and post-launch support.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet or Asana and familiarity with established project and change-management methodologies.
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to analyze data and present findings to stakeholders.

The target salary range for this role is:
$107,000 to $147,150 if located in Illinois

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
