We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate Hydrogeological Modeler .

Description of Responsibilities:

SRK Consulting is seeking a junior to intermediate hydrogeological modeler to join our Groundwater Group in Vancouver. We are looking for a skilled professional with a strong foundation in groundwater flow and transport modeling. This role will focus on groundwater modeling while also supporting the diverse needs of our hydrogeology, mining, geochemistry, rock mechanics, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

As a hydrogeological modeler, you will contribute to important projects by working closely with a multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing, building, and reviewing groundwater flow, pore pressure, and contaminant transport models.
  • Supporting modeling efforts, and providing technical input into engineering designs and remediation efforts, through collaboration with geochemists, hydrologists, structural geologists, and geotechnical engineers.
  • Participating in all stages of mining studies, including early economic assessments, permitting, operational support, and research and development.
  • Assisting in the creation of detailed conceptual site models that consider environmental, social, and financial factors.
  • Helping translate complex scientific information into clear, accessible reports and presentations for clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Working alongside hydrogeological, hydrological, and geotechnical field teams, and assisting with field activities when needed.
  • Collaborating with team members across all levels, contributing to project progress, supporting junior staff, and communicating findings effectively.


Essential Requirements:

We are looking for a motivated professional who has:
  • A master's degree or higher in geology, geological or civil engineering, physical geography, or a related field, with a focus on hydrogeology or environmental engineering.
  • Experience with groundwater numerical modeling, preferably using FEFLOW.
  • Familiarity with coding, statistics, and uncertainty analysis.
  • Experience with geological modeling software such as Leapfrog.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Although fieldwork is not the primary focus of this position, a willingness and ability to spend extended periods in the field under varying conditions is required.
  • Strong writing, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Professional registration in BC or current eligibility to obtain it.
  • Valid driver's license valid for use in Canada with a good driving record.
  • Currently eligible to work in Canada.

The estimated base pay range for this position is 80,000 to $110,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
