Full Job Description
MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented JuniorMechanical Engineer to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This position is onsite.

You will leverage your technical engineering knowledge and fluid dynamic analytical skills to support the design, modeling, and modification of marine propulsion and shipboard auxiliary systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Applying knowledge of marine propulsion systems, including inboard and outboard motors, to support mechanical engineering evaluations.
  • Analyzing ship/boat-board auxiliary systems, including seawater cooling, fuel fill and distribution, exhaust, potable water, fresh water, sewage, HVAC, and fire suppression.
  • Conducting fluid dynamic analyses, including pressure loss and fluid flowrate/velocity calculations, in accordance with military and industrial standards.
  • Developing 2D CAD drawings and 3D modeling of auxiliary piping systems, pumps, and associated components.
  • Developing detailed product-level Boat Alteration (BOATALT) drawings for the removal, installation, and modification of mechanical systems.
  • Conducting ship and boat checks onboard craft to gather technical parameters for BOATALT drawing development.
  • Performing static and dynamic analyses of components installed on craft, including material stress and vibration calculations for foundations and bolts.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in conducting ship/boat checks onboard craft for technical drawing development.
  • Experience in performing static and dynamic analyses, including stress and vibration calculations, in accordance with military and industrial standards.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills to support engineering documentation and collaborative project goals.


Preferred Qualifications :
  • Experience working directly with U.S. Navy clients and naval technical frameworks.
  • Active AutoCAD License or advanced proficiency with AutoCAD software.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Ability to move about a ship and lift up to 50 pounds


The projected compensation range for this position is $70,200.00-$117,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
